I received a call purporting to be from Expedia, touting some bargain flight deals. They charged me but I never received a proper confirmation regarding my tickets.

Got loads of calls from 02032906290 claiming to be Carphone Warehouse with an offer for an iPhone 13 Pro deal. Was about to believe it, but decided to ring Carphone Warehouse using their official website number just to be sure. They told me that number isn’t linked to them and it’s probably a scam. Dodged a bullet there!

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said he was calling from Carphone Warehouse. Honestly, sounded fishy to me, so watch out, probably a scam.

Tried calling 020 8638 0742 but no one picked up, and when I tried to call back, all I got was three beeps. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Received an unsolicited phone call regarding mobile phones. Quite bothersome, to say the least.

An Indian gentleman gave me a call here in Australia today, and wouldn't you know it, the same old tale about my internet being cut off was spun! I inquired further and requested his contact number, which intriguingly turned out to be the same as the one reported. Such trickery!

Received a dodgy phone call from a number that doesn't seem to exist. Definitely a scam!

Like many before me, I've had a similar experience. A chap with quite a thick accent introduced himself as Alex Smith. When I confronted him, suggesting that it seemed like a scam, he took great offence and insisted that I was being rude.

I certainly don’t wish to sound prejudiced in any way, but I've encountered a multitude of phone calls over the last few years. They often come from individuals with pronounced Indian accents, claiming there's a virus or some such hazard on my device. They prompt you to check your event log-the place where all error occurrences are recorded-and it appears rather intimidating, which is their ploy to persuade you into downloading dubious software that grants them access to your computer, all under the guise of helping you tidy up the log. I’m not entirely sure when they make their move to extract cash or covertly install their own programmes. I must admit, I find it quite amusing to keep them on the line for a good thirty minutes before confessing that I never fell for their ruse and have just been indulging in a bit of gaming instead. They tend to masquerade as representatives from BT, Microsoft, Google, or some vague “your ISP” entity.

I had a rather peculiar experience too, much like those mentioned here. An Indian gentleman rang me, claiming that my computer had been infiltrating the BT server for several months. He urged me to perform certain actions on my device to prevent what he termed “disconnection threats” looming over my internet for a duration of three months. When I probed him about his location, he initially insisted he was representing BT but then proceeded to provide an address in London! After asking for a callback number to verify his claims, he handed me 02086380742. Naturally, I did a quick Google search which led me straight to this site! Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I encountered a rather tenacious chap, who appeared to be of Indian origin, insisting that he was affiliated with the BT Technical department. No matter how much I pressed him for details, he remained adamant. He asserted that my line was on the verge of disconnection due to some files I supposedly downloaded that were affecting their servers. I firmly expressed my scepticism and requested a callback number from him! He's not only foolish but also alarmingly persistent. Quite a worrying situation indeed. 28/03/14

I received a rather peculiar call from a withheld number, where a gentleman with what sounded like a rather thick accent-possibly Indian-informed me that he would be terminating my internet service due to some alleged hacking incidents. To be honest, his explanation was rather murky and hard to follow. When I pushed back, insisting that he lacked the authority to carry out such an action, he became quite confrontational. I pressed him for his name and the origin of his call, to which he claimed to be David Wilkins. I expressed my disbelief and demanded proof of his credentials as well as his location. He mentioned it was a BT number and urged me to ring 02086380742. Again, I challenged his threats and reiterated that he had no right to disconnect my service. At that point, he became extremely rude, dismissing me and telling me to shut up! I responded by insisting he shouldn’t speak to me like that and promptly ended the conversation.

I haven't the faintest idea who this might be.
