Someone called claiming to be from Amazon’s customer support, telling me I had an "awaiting order" that required my permission to either cancel or confirm. While chatting with them, I got an alert from Amazon about a new device trying to log into my account. The caller kept pressing me to share the verification code they said was being sent to me. It was clearly a con. If I’d given them that code, they’d have gained entry to my account. The caller was quite pushy, trying to sound serious and urgent, even mocked me when I mentioned my understanding of UK consumer protection laws.
