This number has been ringing my home phone about ten times in the last week. My wife has picked up, and it’s the same old drivel as others have mentioned. They claim to be from BT, harping on about an internet service that we don’t even use. Absolute nuisance, I tell you!

Caller: “Good afternoon, this is the BT Technical team. We’ve received notifications regarding potential hacking attempts on your internet connection, and it’s imperative we address this ASAP.” Me: “Ah, so it’s people like you causing the fuss, then?” Caller: “Ma’am, this is legitimately BT!” Me: “I’m not convinced.” Cue a load of mumbling followed by silence! I reckon I’ll start keeping a whistle handy for such calls in the future. But anyway, I've taken the precaution of blocking that number.

I received a couple of calls from this number earlier today, but I didn't pick up, so I'm afraid I can't provide any further details. We do have an answerphone set up, yet it seems they didn't leave a message.

Caller: “Good day, this is BT’s Technical Support. We’ve received alerts regarding unauthorized attempts to access your internet connection, and it could lead to significant issues.”

Me: “Right, well that sounds a lot like what you'd be doing, doesn't it?”

Caller: “Madam, we assure you, we represent BT!”

Me: “Not convinced, I’m afraid.”

There was a fair bit of grumbling on their end before the call cut off! I might just have to keep a whistle handy for future nonsense like this. On the bright side, I’ve blocked that number now.

This morning, I received two calls from someone purporting to be from BT, claiming they wished to chat about my internet service. I informed him that I’m not a BT customer since I use a cable provider instead. To my surprise, he began to dispute this! I ended up hanging up on him.
