Got a call from a man with an Indian accent saying I was due a refund from my bank because they overcharged me, but then he claimed I didn’t have a bank account at all. I ended the call, but he rang back instantly and started going on about some cheque he supposedly had and wanted my personal info. I just hung up again.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the FCA, but it felt dodgy. I told them there’s no way I could pass on the phone number for the person they wanted and suggested they send a letter to the address we have instead. Got a call from someone claiming to be from a government financial department about a £2800 refund supposedly from a Halifax account. When I told him I wasn’t buying it, he got quite annoyed and I ended the call. Then he called again! My husband picked up the next time and said we’d rather contact the bank ourselves, and the bloke just hung up! Honestly, not the slickest scammer I’ve come across 😂.

0208 415 4888 - here’s the second part of my story about the so-called Ministry of Justice scam: I clocked it was dodgy straight away because, firstly, the UK government’s been in such a mess for yonks now, couldn’t organise a proper event if they tried, let alone send me a £3000 payout. Next, it was a bank holiday here, so no one from the Ministry of Justice would be on the clock, not that they get much done any other day. Then, when I called the guy a lying crook and told him he’d burn in hell forever, he actually sounded bothered.

Got a call today at 16:16 (27th May 2019) from 0208 415 4888. A bloke spoke with a heavy, probably Indian accent, saying he was from the Ministry of Justice. He claimed the UK Government was set to refund me £3,000 and asked how I preferred to get the money. I said I could pop round today to pick it up and asked where. To my surprise, he answered with "102 Petty France". Felt a bit fishy to me.

This is definitely a scam. I got a call from some bloke claiming to be from the 'Ministry of Justice,' and he actually knew my name (where do they get that info from?). He started off asking how I was doing. When he said he was from the Ministry of Justice, I just replied better than you and hung up. So annoying!

Ah, just like my experience. Some bloke named Tony Smith kept spewing the usual rubbish. I ended up wasting his time for nearly 25 minutes, hopefully preventing him from conning someone else. Before I cut off, I let him have it with a few swear words, mixing English and Hindi. He hung up straight away. Honestly, who’d expect the government to be calling anyone on a bank holiday? Seems suspicious to me.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice, said she knew my name and there was £3000 to refund me. Told her I didn’t think so and told her to buzz off before hanging up. Honestly, why does the TPS even exist if it doesn’t stop this? I’ve been signed up for years and still get these dodgy calls.

Got a phone call from this number and some bloke said he was calling on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. Apparently, Barclays had got in touch about a PPI claim. I asked if Barclays really contacted him and he said yes, so I went on to ask exactly who at Barclays had rung. He just told me it wasn’t any of my concern and then hung up on me. Had to chuckle at that - “none of your business,” yeah right. Still, it’s a bit worrying that a dodgy call centre, which was clear from all the background noise, might be pretending to be from the Ministry of Justice.

This bloke had an Indian accent, asked straight away for the person who lives here, saying it was some kind of 'legal financial issue'. When I pressed him for details, he snapped, "WHY WOULD I TELL YOU?" I told him I needed more info before handing over the phone, and when I told him to chill and stop being rude, he got proper angry saying "Don't waste my time, IDIOT!" then just cut the call. Hilarious, really.

This number just rang me and a guy with an Indian accent said his name was Andrew Green. He spoke really quickly, so I had to ask a few times where he was calling from. Then, weirdly, he snapped at me, asking if I was deaf! I told him straight away that was no way to talk to anyone, and asked what he wanted. He claimed I was due £3800 from the bank for some charges and said he was with the ministry of justice! Honestly, it was so dodgy and nasty. Watch out, folks, they’re only after your info :(

On the 16th of May 2019 I got a call from a woman who sounded like she was from a call centre, with a strong Indian accent. She claimed a solicitor would be contacting me later that day about a £3000 government rebate cheque. She told me I needed to purchase a £150 Google Play card. I ended the call straight away, but they tried ringing me two more times after that without leaving any voicemail. Proper annoying!

Some guy with an Indian accent called claiming to be from the government, saying we'd be getting a refund of three grand into our bank. Honestly, I wish I had the patience to listen to these kinds of calls properly, but they just wind me up straight away. I cut him off, told him to stop wasting my time and that I'd report him. Then he had the cheek to say he'd call back later and try to talk to my husband instead! Needless to say, that number is blocked for good now. Such a blatant scam.

Someone phoned up saying my husband was supposed to get a refund cheque for £3000 from the bank. They kept me on the line and gave me a claim number, a customer service number, and even the name of a person who was apparently coming round today with the cheque. The catch was we had to buy an Amazon voucher worth £150 to sort out the tax on the money. When I told them I'd wait for official confirmation from HMRC in writing before doing anything, the person got really annoyed. I stood my ground, said I wouldn’t do anything just because of a phone call, and then ended the call.
