Got a call from this number, some bloke claiming he’s from BT asking for my operation address or somethin’. Just a heads up, I’m gonna look into this on my own before trusting a word.

I received a rather fishy phone call from the number 02083953728. The bloke on the other end claimed that someone had tampered with my IP address and it was now exposed to anyone in the public domain. He insisted that I needed to provide him with my IP address so he could "correct" it for me. As he continued, he inquired about the devices I was using, and I decided to humour him a bit to gauge his intentions. He instructed me to fetch a pen and paper and to visit my browser and type in the usual www.Google. When I mentioned that I have BT Protect and I use Norton Safe Search, it seemed to throw him off a bit. In the end, I concocted a reason to excuse myself and hung up. Quite shady, if you ask me. I have a sneaking suspicion that he called back just five minutes later from a different number. As soon as he recognised my voice, he abruptly disconnected.
