Had a phone call earlier today from someone claiming to be from AOL, asking for personal information. As soon as we mentioned we weren't comfortable sharing any details, they abruptly hung up on us.

I really wish these folks would stop ringing me; I had a staggering ten missed calls from them earlier on! I've had enough of it, honestly. Would they just kindly go away?

I'm absolutely exhausted from all these unsolicited calls!

This number has buzzed us four times throughout the day, yet not once did they bother to leave a message! It's rather frustrating, to say the least.

I received a call earlier today but didn't answer in time. When I tried to get back to them, I was greeted with an automated voice message stating that it was a call from AOL and that they would attempt to contact me again later.

Earlier today, my phone rang twice, and just the other day, it went off three times. Not a word was left behind. If these callers can't be bothered to leave a proper message, then frankly, we can't be bothered to call them back. I don’t even know who it was trying to reach me. Plus, we’re on the Telephone Preference Service, so they can keep ringing away at their own cost while we continue to ignore the phone.

AOL (UK) has been taken over by Carphone Warehouse. If you've got your broadband through AOL, we could be mistaken, but it seems these folks are quite entitled to reach out about account upgrades or other matters concerning your service. That said, if you prefer not to receive their marketing calls, you’re well within your rights to opt out.

So, these individuals ring you up and request your personal information, huh? It’s rather baffling how they think we can tell them apart from the con artists out there, isn’t it?

A caller reached out claiming to be from AOL, trying to persuade us to switch to their Platinum Two package. She introduced herself as Mishka and mentioned she was based in Cape Town.

Had another call from them this evening, but we didn’t pick up, and surprisingly, they didn’t leave any message. I thought my number was registered to avoid these pesky cold calls! It’s becoming quite irritating, to say the least, as these folks just won't take the hint.

In response to our previous message, we've just submitted a report to the Telephone Preference Service through their online portal. If more individuals follow suit, perhaps these callers will start to pay attention!

We recently received a call from that number and the folks on the other end claimed to be from AOL Broadband! We let them know that we're on the Telephone Preference Scheme and would be reporting the call. They promptly hung up!

I've been inundated with missed calls from this number over the past month, claiming to be from AOL. They've mentioned there’s no rush regarding their attempts, and that they’ll call back soon enough. However, when I tried returning the call, I was greeted by an automated message that clearly stated it was AOL, yet there seemed to be no way to speak with a real person - just endless recordings. While AOL used to be our service provider, I’m rather sceptical of the legitimacy of this communication.

It was quite the ruse, wasn’t it? Someone posing as an AOL representative, claiming to offer perks for being a loyal customer. They asked for my address for verification purposes. Naturally, I didn’t share any details and suggested they drop me an email so I could confirm their identity. Unsurprisingly, that email never materialised.

I keep getting hounded by this lot who seem keen on snooping into our personal details and whatnot. Once we expressed our disinterest, they assured us it would be the last we'd hear from them. Yet here we are, getting three or four calls a day from them! I've reached out to the Consumer Protection Watch and they claimed it’s out of their jurisdiction! It’s utterly baffling!

I've never had the pleasure of interacting with CPW before, but these muppets seem intent on ringing me five or six times a day. So to them, I'd like to say in the politest way possible, please do us all a favour and just "Jog On!"

We've yet to answer this call, but we've certainly had our fair share of missed calls from this number. I thought it wise to do a little digging online to uncover who might be behind it all, especially as we've received two calls already today. Apparently, it's advised to report such situations, so here we are, trying to get to the bottom of it.

I can’t believe it! This is just like that whole “BPS acting for Carphone” scam. Seriously, don’t share anything with these folk!

What a shocking experience! I received a call from a number claiming to be AOL earlier today. They were after our personal details, but as soon as I started asking questions about the nature of the call, the caller abruptly hung up. I decided to reach out to AOL directly, and they assured me that no one from their team had made any such calls. They advised me to contact the police, which I promptly did. The police confirmed that it was indeed an international scam. Just a heads up for everyone - stay vigilant!

It appears that AOL (UK) has changed hands and is now part of Carphone Warehouse. Back in the day, if you had your broadband service with AOL, things might seem a bit murky now. We might not have all the facts straight, but it seems fair that they can reach out to you regarding upgrades or changes to your account. Of course, this is only if you haven’t actively chosen to decline any marketing calls from them.
