2 yearsWhat a devious ruse! They initially ring up claiming to be from your mobile network, and for some reason, they actually got the right one this time! Next, they tempt you with a lovely 40% off your bill and ask you to verify your email address. While you're engaged on the call, they manage to access your account online and reset your password. This action leads to an email being sent to you from your provider, asking you to verify a PIN number included in that very message. Then, as if it couldn’t get more dubious, they dangle the prospect of a free phone, requesting your bank details for a direct debit-complete with assurances that everything will be validated by both your bank and your mobile provider, making it seem all above board, although in reality, they'd likely have the phone sent to themselves, not you. Following the call, another email pops up confirming the new password change from your service provider. I managed to hang up before they could fully complete their scheme, but not before they had already altered my account password. Thankfully, I’ve swiftly changed it again to secure my account against their meddling!2 yearsI got a call from someone saying they were with EE.
