I rang a Blackburn number, an old BT landline from Lancashire, at about 11:02 this morning, Thursday 28th May 2015. No one picked up. I looked up the number here on this site afterwards.

Over the last couple of days, I've had four separate calls from someone pretending to be a Microsoft engineer, all trying to get into my PC. Pretty typical scam stuff, really.

Typical scam call, said there was a problem with my computer. I told him I wasn't buying any of it and he just chuckled. If this is truly a London number, why isn't something done to block it?

Had a similar experience here. Some "Windows support" guy called me, tried to get me to match up some CSID number on my computer with his. Even after double checking, I just didn't feel right about it. Then he told me to go to Tinyurl.com to sort out the problem. When I said the site wouldn’t open and I wasn’t keen on running anything from him, he got quite rude. Claimed he was backed by Tinyurl and that their software would fix everything. What a pain! The call began with a woman who handed me over to this bloke, and neither one of them spoke English properly. Proper annoying.

called, nobody picked up, then they called me back instead

They claimed to be from the Windows tech team and told me my computer had been hacked. They wanted me to switch on my computer so they could guide me through fixing it. But when I asked for a phone number to get back in touch with them, they just ended the call.
