At 14:53 on the 17th of March, 2009, a young woman from the Motor Shop gave Fiona a bell, claiming she had a prospective buyer for our car that we put up on Gumtree. She asked for a small deposit of £79.99, which we turned down flat. Gotta say, she came across as quite believable, despite the dodgy phone chatter in the background and the so-called manager we were put through to. If anyone tries pulling that nonsense on me again, they’ll be in for a right proper telling off.

Not long after we posted an ad on the transaction pages, we received calls from individuals claiming to be "buyers" interested in the type of car we’re offering, particularly regarding the hardtop. It’s quite clear they’d be more than willing to pay for any "leads" they might possess. Just a moment, though, something seems off here.

Received a call on my mobile and they left a voicemail. They seemed to be inquiring about our caravan, which is still up for grabs. They've also tried reaching us on our landline.

Not long after we published our advert in Bargain Pages, we received a call from some folks claiming they had 'interested buyers' for the kind of car we were advertising. Strangely enough, the ad clearly states it’s a hardtop vehicle, but that didn’t seem to matter to them. It’s a safe bet these chaps are after a fee for the 'leads' they supposedly possess. Definitely a conversation to end promptly, in our opinion!
