Got a call pretending to be from HMRC recently. When I rang the number back, someone claiming to be an HMRC official asked for my name and national insurance details. Absolutely don’t give out any personal info! They turned a bit hostile and started threatening that the cops would be knocking on my door soon because of supposed tax issues. Don’t fall for this, it’s a total con, just like others have mentioned. Make sure you report this fraud to HMRC, Action Fraud or the police if you’ve been targeted so they can track down these scammers quickly.

He said it was because the call was being recorded. Couldn’t help but laugh at that. Then he said he’d hang up and that I was about to get arrested. Guess I better keep a low profile now!
