My elderly mum got a call from this number earlier. Luckily, as soon as she picked up, the call dropped straight away. After seeing what others have said here, I’ve warned her to just ignore it if it rings back. I’ve labelled the number as unknown since we never actually spoke to anyone.

Somebody from hmre rang me up and started going on about court stuff against me. I told them I’m on universal credit and then they just cut me off.

I answered the call and was greeted by a pre-recorded voice claiming to be from HMRC, instructing me to return the call to the number displayed on my screen (which they even read out). They made it sound urgent, warning me that I shouldn’t disregard the message. It was clearly a fraudulent call, as HMRC doesn’t have my phone number-they only have my email. Plus, my tax matters are all handled automatically through my employer, so there was absolutely no reason for them to contact me. A classic scam, if ever I saw one!
