Got a couple of calls this morning from 02045421232, guy said he's from the 'Call Blocking Department'. Bit annoying really, already twice today!

02081542156 Called me and there was this weird silence for like 5 seconds, then a brief bit of music before someone actually talked. I knew right away it was a scam. My usual move is to just put the phone down and let them keep asking ‘hello, can you hear me?’ until they finally stop and hang up.

This number has phoned me a few times now. I could hardly make out what they were saying because of their terrible English and a really thick Indian accent. They claim to offer call blocking, but I’m sure it’s a paid service - something you can get free through BT anyway. My partner politely said thanks and ended the call, but I wouldn’t be so courteous. I can see how older folk or anyone not so savvy might easily fall for it.

This same number’s blown up my landline three times today. On the last call, some bloke said he was from the 'Call Blocking Department'. When I asked what company he was with, he got all muddled. So I asked him again, if he’s from a department, who’s the company then? Ended up wasting loads of his time before calling him a conman, and then he just hung up on me. Honestly, I had so much more to say! What a shame.

First, they said they were from Amazon, then the very next day, a call saying it was from ‘Stop Call’! Honestly, if it wasn’t so clearly a scam, it’d be pretty worrying. Just typical dodgy scammers messing about.

This number has been ringing my home phone loads over the last few days. One time I actually answered, and the person claimed they were trying to help stop nuisance calls - bit rich, considering that’s exactly what they were doing! I just put the phone down. Then I got another call a moment ago, and there was just silence when I answered. I did a 1471 and yep, same number again. I've warned my elderly mum too, so if they call her, she’ll know not to answer. These folks are basically scammers and it's mad that stuff like this is still going on in this day and age!

I got a call where the guy asked me to verify who I was. I refused and asked him who exactly was calling and which firm he represented. His response was "Switch to web," then without checking who I was, he started claiming I wouldn't get any more marketing or nuisance calls on my landline. I'm already signed up with TPS, so that shouldn't be happening anyway. When I mentioned I was actually on a nuisance call at that moment, he just dropped the line. Yet another dodgy call! Thought they’d quieten down but no, as soon as lockdown ended they’ve got busy again. It’d be brill if BT just threw in call blocking for everyone with a landline - I mean, we pay enough for the rental, right? That’d make a proper difference and save a lot of poor folks from getting fleeced out of their pensions and savings. Honestly, these scammers are nothing but a bunch of cowboys.
