Got a call from this pushy woman with an Indian accent, kept saying "RIGHT?" at the end of every sentence like it was some sort of catchphrase. She was threatening to put some sort of 'block' on my landline, which I barely even use. Claimed that from tomorrow, my phone would be free of any pesky calls - funny, considering this call was already one of them! She started rattling off an address I'd never heard of, so I just played along and said it was mine. Then she inquired if I paid by direct debit; I told her that was none of her business and ended the call. Absolutely bloody irritating!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent who said he was ringing from the Telephone Blocking Department, something I've never heard of. He told me my number wouldn’t get any more nuisance calls. When I asked him to say again where he was calling from, he repeated 'Telephone Blocking Department', and I just responded with "oh, really?" twice. Then the bloke just hung up; I think he twigged I wasn’t buying it and didn’t want to stay on the line. Would have liked to keep him on a bit longer!

My elderly mum, who’s got some disabilities, got a call from a woman with an Indian accent. Luckily, I picked up. She claimed she was calling from the Telephone Preference Service and needed to verify my details before switching it on. I instantly worked out it was a con. When I asked her to say it again, she sounded pretty irritated. Well, I wasn’t much happier, so I just hung up.

I received a call from a gentleman with an Asian accent purporting to represent some non-existent Telephone Blocking Department. I must admit, I expressed my disbelief by saying "oh really?" a couple of times. It seemed he realised I was onto him and abruptly terminated the call. I was quite eager to keep him on the line for a bit longer, but alas, he hung up before I could have my fun.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with my phone company, EasyTalk, trying to check my direct debit details. Thing is, my provider ain't called EasyTalk, and I never shared any info with them. Watch out for this one!

I received a call claiming they were about to set up my call blocking service but required a few details from me. At that point, I lost my patience and told them where to shove it before hanging up.

I received a call from this number earlier today, the 7th of January, 2021, around 11:07 in the morning. The individual on the other end began chatting about broadband services and landline calls. I set the phone down for a moment to let him continue, and he went on for close to a minute. Eventually, he posed a question to me. I chose not to respond, and shortly thereafter, he disconnected the call.

I get these silent calls loads of times every week. Then there’s other times when someone with a really thick Asian accent tries to coax me into giving out my electricity meter serial number. I'm guessing they want to switch my supplier and snag a commission or something. It’s proper annoying and really unfair on the genuine call centres we actually appreciate dealing with.
