Got a call from some Indian call centre saying they were from Eon Next. I told them we never take calls like that and just hung up. They still call me every day, at least once, which is really annoying when I’m trying to run my business. They definitely aren’t with Eon Next. Someone even tried to switch my supplier without my okay, so now I've put passwords on all my accounts. I’d recommend you do the same, so they can’t mess with your details or pretend you agreed to anything. Makes it much harder for them to switch you over to some dodgy company.

They called me a few times, saying they were from British Gas and that someone had passed my number on, even though they wanted to speak to another person. On the third ring, I answered and told them straight up they had the wrong number and to quit bothering me, but they just brushed me off and kept going with their sales talk. Honestly, I don’t think it was really British Gas - sounded more like some call centre in India. Total scam, if you ask me.

Got a call from this number the other day, it was a bloke with an Indian accent saying my PC was infected and there was a major issue. He claimed my Microsoft licence was out of date and demanded £200 to fix it, warning my computer would just shut off otherwise. He tried to get me to log on and do a bank transfer right then, even wanted me to give him remote access through some portal while I handled it. He said he was from help 93 and that they worked with Microsoft for support. When I kept questioning him, he sounded annoyed and I just told him no. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Got a call from a bloke named Mark, sounded like he had an accent. I wasn’t following what he was saying, so I just hung up. Moments later, he rang straight back and asked, “Why’d you hang up?” I asked him what he wanted, and he said something about a computer maintenance issue. I told him I don’t even own a computer and ended the call sharpish. Definitely a scam, watch out!

I got loads of calls from them saying my computer was full of errors and warnings. Once, I let them access a virtual machine just to see what they'd do, and it became obvious they were making stuff up about my PC problems so they could try and rip me off. Total scam, definitely avoid answering their calls.

I got a few calls from these lot saying my computer was full of errors and warnings. Once, I decided to let them access a virtual machine I set up, and that’s when I realised they were making the whole thing up just to scam money out of me. Proper fraudsters. Don’t ever pick up if they ring you.

I’ve been swindled on my computer. It seems there’s been quite a bit of unauthorised tampering happening. I genuinely believed they were above board. I had simply reported an issue online. Being 75, I guess I’ve got a target painted on my back. Surely there’s a way to track down this phone number?

I honestly believed it was legit. Last week I contacted Microsoft about an issue, but it was actually a con. Stupidly, I handed over my computer password. Now I’m quite worried. I’m 75 years old, and fixing this mess might be expensive. How do these scammers get hold of our personal info in the first place?

Had a ring earlier from a bloke named Martin who claimed to be from Microsoft. He told me my PC was at risk and offered to explain the issue and fix it. I asked for his number to get back to him later, which he provided. But when I dialled that number, all I got was an automated voice saying the call had ended. Strange experience, really.

Honestly, when are these crooks gonna just quit or get caught? Got a call today from some bloke claiming to be Mike from Microsoft, saying my PC's in danger. Then some guy, I think his name was Mark Williams, supposedly from TalkTalk, warned me that if I didn’t do what they said, my computer’d just stop working! Can't believe people fall for this rubbish.

some guy said he was from microsoft tech support (yeah right!), telling me they got alerts about issues inside our pc. he even read out some long number he called our "license key" or something, trying to sound legit. first he called from 00135144513, then after i cut him off, he kept ringing me from 02081448920 non-stop. total scamps.

Got called from someone with an Indian accent, kept pushing despite me saying no several times. Didn’t really explain much about my computer, just kept saying there was some kind of issue.

Today, I received a call from this individual who insisted that I should divulge personal details, despite my clear refusal. He assured me that it wasn’t a scam, but I quickly ended the conversation. To my surprise, he attempted to reach me four more times within just a few minutes! He even had the audacity to say I was being silly for not taking him seriously. It seemed that my husband’s firm approach finally made him understand that we weren’t interested in his persistence. I really didn’t want to be rude, but it was clearly the only way to make him pay attention.

This number rang me four times today. I picked up the first couple of calls, and the bloke claimed my computer was at risk. I just said thanks and that I’d have a look, then hung up. He rang again asking why I'd hung up, so I just ignored the last two calls after that.

Tried reporting it to the police, but they weren't bothered. They basically said that since no actual crime happened, there's nothing to do, even if you suspect something dodgy. Quite frustrating really.

I got a phone call from this number just yesterday. The person said his name was Alex and he claimed to be from Microsoft. He told me my PC was infected and asked for the licence number to fix it. I ended the call straight away, but he phoned me back straight after and gave me some reference number, saying it was my licence. He insisted he could sort the issue but I told him I’d check with my son first. That’s when he got quite rude, saying any delay would make things worse and I’d be responsible for any costs. I wouldn’t give him access and told him I don’t entertain unsolicited calls. I hung up once more and he called again, but this time I let it go to voicemail. A few hours later, I phoned the number back acting like I didn’t recognise them and mentioned I’d missed their call. He wouldn’t disclose who he was and just hurried to end the call. He spoke with a noticeable Indian accent.

Like many others mentioned here, I got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, but their English was awful. I ended the call straight away cos I could tell it was a scam. They rang back asking why I’d cut off, so I said I don’t even own a computer - which clearly wasn’t true for them. Hung up again. Honestly, it’s sad how older folks get tricked by these dodgy calls.

Got a call from this number earlier today and I just ended the call straight away. They rang back and got quite rude, asking why I’d hung up. The person on the line, Emily, who spoke with a strong Asian accent, said she was a Microsoft Certified Technician and claimed my computer had loads of viruses. She told me to go to Tidythepc.com and download some pc viewer software. Now, that site might be legit, but I reckon scammers could be using their remote access tool? I stopped listening and hung up once more. Did a quick Google later and it turned out to be a scam. Even checked with the Microsoft Virtual Agent, who confirmed Microsoft never makes unsolicited calls. Then ran a full McAfee scan - no problems found! If this number rings you, just ignore it and hang up.

Had almost the same thing happen - this guy named "Peter Williams" rang me up, sounded like he was from somewhere around the Indian subcontinent. He said he could fix the issues on my PC. He even told me to look him up online to prove who he was. Got quite nasty when I didn’t buy it! I hung up a couple times but he kept ringing me back, so in the end I just started ignoring the calls.

I had a very similar run-in with a caller claiming to be from 'Online Support...' and named John Williams. The bloke was pretty pushy but kept things vague, so I didn’t let him anywhere near my computer. He said he was from Microsoft and that my system was showing warnings that might cause it to crash. When I asked to double check with someone before doing anything, he said he’d call me back. I’m pretty sure he tried, but when I checked the last number through 1471, it just came up blank. I dialled the number they left twice and ended up getting some 'Online technicians...' message. Felt dodgy from the start.

this was a ransomware con, there’s no problem with your computer at all. honestly, just hang up straight away. no need to be nice about it. like, would you be nice to someone trying to nick your purse? guess not! really feels like a fine you gotta pay for being daft!

Got a call from some ransomware scam trying to freak me out about my computer. My PC’s perfectly fine though. I just hung up straight away, didn’t bother being polite. Why should I be nice to someone trying to take advantage of me? It’s like catching someone with their hand in your pocket! Honestly, you could say it’s a fine for being too trusting!

My sister kept getting loads of calls from someone calling himself "Daniel Ocean." He kept mentioning some ID, PO1DJ-2, which she later realised was a reference to George Clooney’s character from Ocean’s 11. In the end, she got persuaded to listen to him, he claimed her laptop was full of issues and convinced her to log on and install some “repair” software. He said it would be £80 to sort it out. She never gave him her card details straight away, but now she's worried he’s found a way into her online banking and might have charged her without her knowing.

this bloke with a strong eastern european accent called me saying he was straight from microsoft. he claimed my pc was infected with loads of nasty bugs and insisted i give him remote access. he said if i didnt let him in, my computer would be completely bricked within half an hour. when i asked him why microsoft hadn’t emailed me directly about it, he just kept saying they weren’t allowed to do that anymore, for like the last 3 years or something.

Oh no, I reckon I might've been tricked! This person called me up, speaking with flawless English, saying they’d spotted issues with my computer - which I was actually having. I even got in touch with my broadband supplier Talktalk, but they weren’t able to sort it either. With everything happening, plus caring for my 102-year-old mum, I impulsively let them do a remote repair. Luckily, I’ve been keeping an eye on my bank account and so far no odd charges have popped up. Still, a bit suspicious as they sent a follow-up email asking if the fix worked alright...

Got a call from someone saying they were from an official Windows support centre. The only thing that made it seem legit was them mentioning my Windows licence number.
