He claimed he has two children, a son and a daughter, and works as a dentist. Out of nowhere, he started talking about sending me a handbag and an iPhone, but then he said I had to pay 5 million rupiah for some sort of clearance fee. He even said he put money inside the bag. Sounds fishy to me, definitely feels like a scam.5 yearsI’ve been caught up in a scam on social media recently. A bloke messaged me, acting all romantic, saying he was a doctor working in London. He mentioned wanting to send me gifts here in Indonesia. Then, someone else contacted me, claiming to be from the shipping company, asking for 5 million rupiah to cover the parcel fees. After I paid, they came up with another charge of 3 million due to “pandemic-related costs” and told me the parcel was now in Malaysia, not here in Indonesia. They said I had to pay more to get it delivered. Once I paid the extra 3 million, they asked for another 2 million promising the package would be sent after. Just as I sent that, they called again, saying I was fined 10 million rupiah because money was found inside the parcel. It all felt fishy, so I asked for the tracking number so I could check with customs myself. They've never given it, insisting I must pay first. I’ve already reported this to the customs office as a likely scam. The number I believe is involved in this fraud is +44 7562 005962, and the delivery company’s contact is +60 13-937 8247.
