I received a rather unscrupulous call from an Asian gent who was intent on scamming my 86-year-old relative. He had the audacity to claim that £300 and another £9,000 had mysteriously vanished from her bank accounts and ended up in China! To add to the panic, he urged her to swiftly send £10,000 to a niece or nephew so that this 'transfer' could supposedly be halted. Naturally, I took the liberty of checking her accounts, and to my relief, no funds had been removed. The caller hasn't attempted to reach her again-perhaps he’s gone fishing for easier prey elsewhere?
