Over the last few months, my dad has ended up handing over around £3500 to a PPI scammer calling from numbers like 02032906738 and 02032908394. They keep promising him cheques starting at £11,000, then £13,000 and now £16,000, as long as he keeps sending money through UKASH. Whatever they say to him seems to have him completely fooled, and he refuses to believe any of us, the bank, or the police that it’s a complete con. They’ve given him names like Nick Carter, Jim Morrison, and Paul Simon. You never get a direct line with them - you have to leave a message, and they call back only if they think you’re easy to trick. As a result, my dad is now completely skint.

This number's definitely a con trying to trick folks. The person on the line says you can claim about £1800 from PPI but then wants you to pay up front with Ucash vouchers worth £180. Definitely a scam, so watch out and don’t fall for it!
