Been getting calls all week, four times now, each from a different number claiming to be with O2 or Virgin. Same old story about a merger and offers to upgrade my plan. Thing is, I've never even been a customer of either. When I asked for the account holder’s name, they just dodged the question. One call ended abruptly when they just hung up on me. Today, the caller was pushier, trying to sneakily get my email. I said no way and ended the call. Definitely a scam, and every number gets blocked as soon as they call.

A caller with a distinctly South Asian accent reached out to inform me about a supposed merger between Virgin Media and O2, claiming that several O2 customers were voicing concerns over unsatisfactory service. Their pitch revolved around resolving these issues by offering me an upgrade. I requested that they send me the information via traditional post since they already possess my contact particulars. The chap insisted he would fire off an email right away during our conversation. When I pressed him for the email immediately, he seemed quite flustered and promised it would arrive within five minutes, stating he would ring me back after. He then abruptly ended the call, and I promptly blocked the number.

Some bloke with a south Asian accent rang me up saying Virgin Media and O2 had joined forces and that a few O2 customers were moaning about bad service. He claimed he was calling to sort things out by offering me an upgrade. I told him to post me the info since they already have my details. While we were on the call, he said he'd send me an email. I pushed him to send it straight away and kept pestering him about it, which clearly made him a bit uneasy. He then promised to send the email within five minutes and ring me back. As soon as he hung up, I blocked the number.

I’ve had three calls from this number and they even left a voicemail. The message was quite muffled, making it hard to hear properly. I suspect it might be a scam, especially given that it’s a London landline and they called on the 27th of December.
