I received a rather dubious phone call from a fellow who presented himself as William Winthrop - though if I'm honest, he seemed to have roots from the Indian or Pakistani subcontinent. He claimed to be representing BT and droned on about supposed threats to my internet security. To lend credibility to his pitch, he provided a number he insisted was BT’s for verification purposes. It felt awfully fishy as he attempted to persuade me to let him into my laptop. This all transpired on the afternoon of the 25th of January, 2017.
