12 yearsScam alert! They start by acting like they’re from a bank, then ring you pretending to be the police, insisting you follow the bogus bank’s instructions. I’ve already told DC Barry James over at Lancashire police, Burnley CID, about this. Be careful folks!DC Barry JamesLancashire PoliceCIDBurnley12 yearsI received a call from this number claiming to be from the police.12 yearsFor over a month, this number has kept ringing my elderly mum nonstop, eventually managing to con her out of almost £60,000. They claim to be police officers working with her bank, warning her that someone’s trying to hack her accounts and she needs to transfer her money to a “safe” new account they provide. Even after we told them we’d alerted the police and took mum away for a week, they bombarded her phone with up to 28 calls a day, trying to check if she’d moved or was safe, saying they were just about to catch the hackers but kept missing them by inches. Honestly, these scammers are super tricksy - I nearly got taken in myself when I answered mum’s phone. PLEASE stay alert if this number calls you!Submit Your Own Report (020 8133 8331)
