Got a call from some Indian or Asian guy saying he was from the "UK Energy Department" wanting to chat with the boss. When I asked which company he was with, he couldn't give me a name. I told him I just draw my power straight from the lamp post outside. Then he tried to say it was a department, not a company, called me a fool and ended the call. Sounds totally dodgy to me.

I work at a restaurant and got a call from an Asian woman wanting to speak to the owner about some supposed issue with our energy bill. I told her to ring back later. When she asked for the owner’s name, I said I wasn’t allowed to share that but if she actually handled the account, she should have the info already. I ended the call since it seemed like a scam. She called again and shouted, demanding my name. She was super rude and pushy, honestly quite unpleasant.

This woman was really pushy, claiming she had my electricity bills right in front of her and that I was getting scammed. When I asked who was ripping me off, she just said "your supplier" but couldn’t even tell me who that was. She kept talking over me and when I said I’m happy with my current provider, she lost it, yelling all sorts of rude things. I told her to take my number off her list since I’m on the TPS, and frankly I was fed up of being hassled by people like her. I ended up telling her to get lost and blocked another annoying call.

Some bloke with a heavy accent, I think Indian or Pakistani, was going on and on about something I couldn’t even understand. I tried saying excuse me, but he just kept jabbering. In the end, I just hung up and blocked the number, no point wasting time.

I wish BT would step up and delete these hijacked UK lines and figure out how they’re being snagged so they can stop it from happening in the first place. Today, our company got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming to be from the national grid, saying there was a problem with our electricity meter. He asked who supplies our electricity. Then, about 20 minutes later, the same bloke rang back but this time pretending to be from our energy supplier (I’d mentioned our contract was about to run out). He was really pushy, so I had to just hang up to stop him. How is this even permitted??? It’s tying up our phone line and stopping real customers from getting through!

I've had this guy ringing me repeatedly, sounds Asian, first it was a woman, then a bloke came on saying he was from my gas company (which he definitely wasn't). I asked nicely for them to remove me from their call list. The bloke responded with "F##k OFF". When he phoned again, I told him again to stop calling and he just shouted "F##k OFF AND GO TO HELL". I couldn’t believe it! Tried sorting it with 02 but they couldn't do anything. Such a shock.

Got a call from someone who sounded like a call centre based in Asia, not North America, wanting to chat with the person in charge of the business. When I pressed them, they gave different stories - at one point saying they were representing all energy providers, then my own electricity company, later a government department, and then even UK Energy Services Ltd, which I know shut down about a decade ago. They transferred me to a manager, but their pronunciation was so poor they had to spell out words like ‘consumption’ - claiming some of ours wasn’t properly accounted for - and some sort of ‘semi-’ term I couldn’t understand. When I asked them to send an email clarifying the supposed issues, they just ended the call on me.

She kept saying she wasn't trying to sell me anything but just kept jabbering about kilowatt usage. I told her I was busy in the kitchen and couldn't chat. Then, a different day, either the same person or someone else phoned back. I hung up straight away but they called again, or at least I assume it was them, cause I just let it go to voicemail and guess what? No message left. What's the deal with these calls? What exactly are they after from me?

Proper annoying lot, really rude behaviour. My Indian wife heard the way they spoke and was shocked by how bad they were. This number won’t stop ringing, I reckon it’s buzzed me like 20 times in the past few days. Whenever I hang up, they just ring straight back. If I tell them I’m not interested, they get rude and start threatening to call me again and again. Seriously, is there no one to report this to other than the police?

If you’ve been contacted by these people, report it straight away to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or through their website. It’s the police who deal with this kind of stuff in the UK, and making a complaint is the best way to try and get these scammers stopped. Don’t ring the number they gave you though, it’s a premium line and will cost you loads. Just thought I’d share this to help anyone else caught out.

I got a call from someone claiming to be National Grid, said they could offer cheaper electricity rates since I run a business. Asked for their London postcode but they wouldn’t give it. When I ended the call nicely, they called back asking why I’d hung up on them. Feels dodgy to me - I don’t think National Grid really cares how much we pay for power.

Some bloke named James Jones kept ringing me, claiming he was in Afghanistan on a camel, puffing on a Dunhill and telling me there was a complaint from National Grid. He just wouldn’t quit, so I ended up chatting with him for a good couple of hours, having a laugh and messing about.

Again, it's that Asian bloke, just like others have mentioned, really not a pleasant guy. If a woman answers the call, he starts asking personal stuff and says he likes our voices. One time, he even made weird noises over the phone like he was up to something inappropriate. But if a man answers, he just stays quiet. How is this kind of behaviour allowed?! Got a call from some bloke from India today, proper nightmare. I’m in the middle of a buzzing cafe, no way I’m answering any spam calls. He kept insisting on speaking to the boss, and got all stroppy when I said that’s not possible, then started pretending he couldn’t hear me or there was some dodgy line. Then he was asking about meter readings for EDF, but I’m with Eon, so just ignored it. Got a call from this number saying they were from some UK energy firm and wanted to discuss our energy account. Told the bloke to take our details off their list as we don't want any calls, but he just didn't stop chatting. Even after I ended the call, he kept ringing non-stop for like thirty minutes straight. Thing is, we don’t even get our supply from them, and the bloke didn’t seem to know who actually does. Felt like a scam to me, so be careful. He kept going on and on, said his name was Steve. This number rings up loads, always saying there’s some issue with my electric meter. Their line is that they’re from the services team at NATIONAL GRID STATION - apparently an electricity broker based in London. They often mention the "station" bit, which, weirdly, isn’t false. They’re basically pushing to sort out your electricity deal. Being rude back doesn’t help much since they’re pretty cheeky themselves, often throwing insults around. I ended up googling some of the things they said cos I hadn’t heard them before!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the National Grid asking for the owner. When I asked their name, they just said they were from the National Grid. I told them the owner wasn’t around, but they kept pushing asking for the owner's phone number. When I said again they weren’t here, the caller accused me of lying and insisted I was the owner. Over the past week, this number has rung our cafe nearly 100 times. They were asking for private info about a 17-year-old waitress. When we pushed back, they just kept ringing and started shouting horrible stuff. We've had to report it to both the police and BT.

We got a call at the restaurant from a woman claiming to be from some complaint company, asking for the owner. I told her the owner wasn't available, but then she pressed me for the owner's mobile number, which I wouldn't hand over. When I asked her again where she was calling from, she just ended the call.

just got another call from some bloke claiming to be with the national grid's service team, going on about a problem with our electricity. i told him i didn't get what he meant, and then he had the nerve to call me stupid. i told him to write to me if there really was an issue, but he kept pushing so i ended the call. he called again threatening to cut off our power in two days, but i hung up straight away.

Hey, got a ring from this number earlier and when I told them they’d dialled the wrong person, the caller just started cussing all sorts of bad words at me. Really wish I could figure out which business they’re connected with. Cheers!

This woman kept calling and wouldn’t stop no matter what. When I demanded to find out why she was ringing, she just ended the call. Feels like a total scam to me.

Got a call from some overseas outfit pretending to be from the national grid. If you dare to ask questions, they don’t hesitate to get rude and aggressive. Total scam!

Got a call about some business matter, but when I said it was a private residence, the person started accusing me of lying. I just told them to buzz off.

Just like many others, I got charged way too much. I told Calum I didn’t trust what he said. Then Calum told me to call back and ask for the service department, but the number he gave me, 02081330221, seems to be dodgy. After checking this number, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. They even rang me again 5 minutes later, but from another phone number! All three numbers are now blocked on my phone - fingers crossed this nonsense finally ends soon.

Exactly what happened to me! He kept ringing over and over and said he wouldn’t stop until I actually listened to what he had to say. I told him to leave me alone because I wasn’t interested. In the end, I had to just turn off my phone to get some peace. Really not sure who he thinks he is. This number or caller definitely needs to be looked into. An elderly person would’ve felt really scared and might have been easily fooled by this behaviour.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be ‘Daniel’ from the national grid’s service team. He said my business electricity meter wasn’t working properly and that my bills were too steep because of it. Told him I wasn’t interested but he got pretty pushy and started arguing, so I hung up. He called straight back and kept on with the same talk. I ended the call once more, but he rang right away again, so I let it go to voicemail. Only after the message ended did he finally hang up.
