6 yearsI received a call from this number, and it was a lady speaking with a South Asian accent. She mentioned something about providing support for computers and tied it to Microsoft. When I requested her contact number, to my astonishment, she actually provided it. After that, I politely said farewell and hung up.Microsoft11 yearsAlmost identical to what’s been mentioned already, but the name in question was Sam Auftin. They sent me a cheque amounting to £3200 yet required me to purchase a UK Cash Voucher worth £160 before I could actually receive the cheque. I inquired why, if it was supposedly for a tax obligation, I couldn't settle it online-yet they failed to provide any convincing explanation. I made it clear that I would need to verify the legitimacy of the call prior to taking any action.Sam Auftin11 yearsI received a phone call from the number 0208.133.5457 on 30th April 2015, around 15:55. The individual on the other end introduced himself as Jim Taylor, but his accent didn’t match that name at all; he actually sounded Indian. He claimed to be contacting me from the Ministry of Justice’s Claims Department, stating that they had successfully reclaimed all the charges from a loan I had taken out ages ago. He went on to say that due to some new government legislation about unfair charges, every financial institution was obliged to refund money to customers, and that the Ministry of Justice was overseeing these claims. He informed me that there was a cheque waiting for me, amounting to £4,600. However, he insisted that I first pay a 5% tax of £230 before I could receive the cheque, which one of their solicitors would personally deliver to my home. He instructed me to go to the nearest PayPoint store and purchase something in the name of UKASH LTD prior to the solicitor's visit. At that point, I became highly suspicious about the entire situation and asked him to email me proof of his claims, which I have yet to receive. Since that day, I’ve had 18 missed calls from this company because I have not picked up any of their calls after discovering that it’s a scam, following my research on UKASH and finding various websites confirming it as such. Generally, I don’t leave reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others so that nobody else falls victim to this unscrupulous attempt - caller: JIM TAYLOR.Jim TaylorMinistry of JusticeClaims DepartmentPayPointUKASH LTDUKASHJIM TAYLOR11 yearsJust like Janice and John, I encountered a chap named Sam claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice. He insisted that I was owed some Payment Protection Insurance from a loan I supposedly took out in 2009, which is utter nonsense as I've never had a £7000 loan. Sam went on to say that he’d send over a lady named Jennifer Williams with a cheque for £3200. However, he insisted that I needed to buy a UCASH voucher for £160 first so they could stamp it and then I could deposit the cheque into my bank account. I told him I simply don’t have that sort of cash and that I wanted to cash the cheque first, but he insisted that this wasn’t possible. I told him I would call back later but that I intended to alert the watchdog about this nonsense! Caller ID: 02081335457.JaniceJohnSamMinistry of JusticePayment Protection InsuranceJennifer Williams11 yearsI received a rather dubious call today, claiming to be from the "Ministry of Justice," a government department located in London, regarding a previous loan and some outstanding debt. I kindly informed the caller that I was registered with the Telephone Preference Service-which, by the way, I highly urge anyone to sign up for as it’s completely free! Before I could say another word, the gentleman abruptly hung up on me! This stinks of a scam, if ever I saw one. It’s crucial to report such incidents to Ofcom and the ICO. Just imagine how many individuals might naively believe they're actually communicating with a government body! - Caller ID: 020 8133 5457Ministry of JusticeLondonTelephone Preference ServiceOfcomICO11 yearsJust like Janice on 29th April 2015, I've received a rather dubious call from someone who introduced herself as Jennifer, although she has a distinctly Asian, potentially Indian accent. She claimed to be affiliated with the Ministry of Justice in the Claim Regulation Management Division. According to her, I’m owed a sum of £2,400 related to a past mortgage, supposedly as a reimbursement for PPI. What’s quite unsettling is that she seemed to possess a fair amount of personal information - she knew my mortgage provider and even acknowledged that I had made an attempt to reclaim my PPI, which ended in disappointment since the PPI wasn't linked to my mortgage lender. She went on about how government court actions have granted payouts to others in a similar situation and that a solicitor nearby could personally deliver the cheque to me. However, there was a catch: I would need to make a trip to a local shop to purchase UCash vouchers amounting to £250, which she claimed was necessary to pay a 10% tax back to the government. These vouchers were supposed to be attached to the cheque and deposited into my bank account! Once I obtained the UCash vouchers, she insisted I call them back so the solicitor could visit to drop off my cheque. When I expressed my intention to look into this further online, she initially showed no objection, but the moment I voiced my suspicion about the whole affair, mentioning that I had seen a Watchdog programme warning about such scams, she promptly hung up. Is this a scam operation at play? - Caller: 0208 133 5457, Jennifer, Ministry of Justice, Claim Regulation Management Division.JaniceJenniferMinistry of JusticeDivisionRegulation Management Division11 yearsI received a call from someone claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice, insisting they needed to send me a cheque for some reclaimed PPI. The catch? I had to purchase £180 worth of UKASH vouchers first. The whole thing seemed quite believable at first, but then there was something off. The caller, one Sam Austin, had an accent that didn’t sound British at all and kept adjusting the time for my response based on how quickly I could get the cash together. It felt a bit dodgy, to say the least!Ministry of JusticeSam Austin11 yearsI keep receiving calls from a number claiming I'm owed £2500 from a £6000 loan I took out way back in 2003. They say a solicitor is close by and will personally deliver the cheque, but first, I have to purchase a £250 Ukash voucher as a '10% fee' to the Ministry of Justice for this reimbursement. This same number has been harassing me all week, pressuring me to cough up the money. Curiously, the bloke on the other end, who insists he's called Jim Taylor, has a noticeably thick Asian accent! I’m yet to see any sign of this cheque being delivered, especially since I’ve refused to buy the Ukash voucher.
