Got a call with the same kind of info as before, they even had my name and address right but I never said it was ok. I kept them hanging for a bit. Now I’m thinking maybe I should hang around to see if the solicitor actually turns up with a cheque or something.

Got a call from a young Asian bloke claiming to be from some government agency, telling my elderly mate she’d been charged too much by her bank and was owed a refund. When she asked how he knew that as she’s pretty careful with her bank statements, he got all rude and pushy. She quickly spotted it was a scam and ended the call. The scary part is, not all older folks would be as sharp about these things.

I am constantly receiving calls from individuals of Asian descent who claim to be from the Ministry of Defense. These callers have knowledge of my postcode, which raises concerns about how they obtained this information. It is ludicrous that these people are allowed to engage in such activities. Clearly, this is a scam, as they persistently inquire about my deceased parents. I am perplexed as to how they obtained their names. Could they possibly be searching the voters' register?

These individuals are extremely bothersome and engaging in fraudulent activities. They falsely claim to possess a cheque for you, but only if you pay them £150 first. I urged them to provide me with the cheque and assured them that they could receive the money once it cleared. However, the individual insisted that they were from the Ministry of Justice, which is yet another falsehood.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent sayin I was getting £2500 sent by cheque since I refused to share my bank info - bit of a laugh really! He had an outdated address with the postcode wrong but somehow knew the loan stuff and the year. Didn’t confirm anything with him tho. He got all annoyed and ended the call when I wouldn't give any more details. He claimed it was because of some government scheme after a court decision! Total scammer, gonna block the number for sure.

Had a call from a guy who sounded Indian, and honestly, I’m over these calls now. Instead of answering, I just kept quiet while he kept saying hello a few times. Eventually, I cranked up the radio so he could hear that instead. Much better than losing my temper! Funny enough, it was Mad World by Tears for Fears playing!

Just like many folk here, I got a call from someone saying they were from the Ministry of Justice, telling me I was due a refund cheque for £3,600 (that amount seems to be the norm!). They threw in a plot twist saying a solicitor would show up with the cheque in person. Seemed a bit fishy to me. When I asked for details about the bank the refund was coming from, she couldn’t give me a straight answer. I kept her chatting for a bit, then told her outright I wasn’t buying any of it.

Problem is, I’ve never made any claim myself, but apparently my bank had applied on my behalf. A gentleman named Simon Miller, who identified himself as a member of the Ministry of Justice, thoroughly looked into my personal information. He seemed to have knowledge about everything. He informed me that a lady called Julie Shaw would be contacting me today to deliver a cheque worth £3000. However, he mentioned that I would need to pay a 5% tax amounting to £150. In case I encountered any difficulties, he instructed me to call 02071936402. Just as he was about to transfer me for an appointment, I abruptly ended the call. Surprisingly, within moments, I received another call. Tempted not to answer, I allowed the call to go to voicemail. It turned out to be a female caller providing instructions to contact a different number, mentioning that Barclays had £2460 for me. On 19 October 2018 at approximately 2 pm, my elderly mother, who is 80 years old, received a phone call. The caller identified himself as Suraj Kumar, an Asian gentleman claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice. Mr. Kumar informed her that she was eligible to receive £2500 and that a solicitor named Julie Green would be visiting her at 4 pm with a cheque. However, there was a catch involving a gift card called All4One. In order to proceed, my mother would be required to pay a cancellation fee of £200, which she declined. When she questioned the legitimacy of the situation and challenged it as a possible scam, Mr. Kumar became verbally abusive and even threatened to visit her in person the following day. This incident serves as a reminder that one should be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true as they often turn out to be scams. It is important to remember that there is no such thing as receiving something for nothing.

I just wasted a good 18 mins talking to someone called ‘Jean Porter’ claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice in London, saying I was owed a £3000 refund for an overpaid loan. She told me to pop to the Post Office and pay some tax with a one4all card, then a solicitor named Mr Nigel Cole would drop off my cheque later. Even after I mentioned other folks’ experiences here, she carried on like nothing. In the end, she just hung up on me. Got a call from these lot again, just like loads of others have said. Last time it was about some iPhone voucher or whatever. I don’t get how this number is still up and running even after being reported to Action Fraud, the police, BT and all that. Pretty rubbish they’re allowed to keep ringing.

Some folks mentioned getting calls saying a bank owed them about £2500, and that a cheque would be delivered to their home. Then they said I had to pay £125 in tax using an iTunes card. The bloke introduced himself as Tony Smith from Claims Reduction Management. When I told him he was a scammer, he didn’t take it well and phoned me straight back after I’d ended the call, still pushing the same nonsense. I’ve reported it to trading standards now.

Got a call from someone named Tony Smith claiming to be from the "Financial Ombudsman Service". He said my wife should get £2500 back for some bank fees, and that a solicitor would drop by tomorrow with a cheque. But then he told us to pop to the Post Office to get a 1 for All Black Card and load it with £125, which he called some kind of tax on the refund! Obviously, we weren’t buying any of it. I was on a different phone listening in and told him we’d be reporting it straight to the ICO. Total rubbish.

Like loads of others have said, he told me his name was Simon Miller. He claimed a solicitor would show up at 3pm with a cheque for me. I kept him on the line for nearly 20 minutes, even telling him I wanted my son there when the cheque arrived. I fibbed and said my son worked for the fraud unit, but he didn’t seem bothered and kept chatting away. I looked up the ministry online and saw a warning about this kind of scam, and I even read the alert out loud to him.

Just like the others mentioned here, the guy said his name was Simon Miller. He claimed a solicitor would visit my place at 3pm to deliver a cheque. I managed to keep him on the phone for 19 minutes, even told him I’d want my son there when the cheque arrived. I fibbed and said my son is with the fraud squad, yet he still kept going. I even looked up the ministry online and found a warning about scams, which I read straight to him.

I got a call from a guy claiming to be from the ministry of justice. He said I was due £3000 because of some overpaid bank fees and that someone would bring the cheque to my place later that day. The guy sounded very convincing and kept insisting. He even gave me a reference number and asked when would suit me for the delivery. It’s definitely a scam, I don’t understand what they’re trying to pull. I’ve also had calls from BT, the Inland Revenue, and now this one. These nuisance calls really need to be stopped.

Got a call from someone claiming to be the Ministry of Justice, saying I’m due £3,000 through a solicitor who’s supposed to come round with a cheque. I told them I didn’t want any visits. Then I reported it to Action Fraud, who told me these calls often come from places like South Asia and Africa. They said they’d be passing the info to the police.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice. I chuckled a bit and he didn’t seem too happy about it, ended up hanging up on me. Tried ringing back the same number but it just went straight to voicemail. Honestly, the phone providers need to keep an eye on these reports. If there are loads of complaints like this, they should just shut the number down for abusing the phone system. If the cops aren’t interested in acting, at least block their way to annoy people.

This number keeps calling me like 3 times daily. I picked up once just to see what they wanted, and the guy claimed I was due £2500. When he started telling me my postcode word for word, I just hung up straight away. Proper creepy. Wouldn’t answer again if I were you!

I received a telephone call from this number just five minutes ago. The caller was aware of my name and claimed to be from the Ministry of Justice. I usually let most calls on my landline go to voicemail nowadays. It’s a shame we live in a time where you’re wary about picking up your own phone. The ones who support these call centres should honestly be held accountable. Even though the callers probably realise they’re up to no good, I bet they’re earning better than some other jobs. Still, they’re part of the problem and can’t be trusted.

I just got a call from this number about 5 minutes ago. It was an individual from another country, and I immediately recognized it as a scam. I promptly told him to leave me alone in strong terms, and he responded by saying inappropriate things. In response, I loudly blew a whistle into the phone, causing him to hang up. It's unfortunate that there isn't any assistance available to prevent vulnerable people from falling prey to these scams by disconnecting these numbers.

A woman introduced herself as a representative from the Ministry of Justice and mentioned that they would be sending a government solicitor to my house with a cheque of £3000. The cheque was supposedly a bank refund from Lloyds, with whom I have a dispute. However, her intentions seemed suspicious and now it seems clear that it was indeed a scam. They were supposed to visit me this morning, so it might turn out to be an interesting situation. By the way, the police showed no interest in my report!

On the 3rd of October 2018, at 3:03 PM, I received a call from someone claiming to be from a government department. They informed me about potential overcharging by my bank and mentioned a refund of £1,500. However, I was skeptical about the legitimacy of the call. I requested an address to send a written claim for the refund, but the line suddenly disconnected. It seems to be a scam.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from some government office. He told me my bank had charged me too much and I was owed about £1500 back. I said thanks and asked where to send a claim to get the money. Then, just like that, the phone went dead. Looks like a proper scam, so watch out!

Received a call purportedly from the Ministry of Justice, but it sounded like I’d reached a bustling call centre instead. I had my doubts about the authenticity of the caller, so I decided to hang up. It’s well known that the Ministry doesn’t reach out via phone; any communication would come in the form of a letter. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Got a call from some bloke overseas who claimed he had a £2500 cheque and wanted me to buy stuff from big supermarkets like Tesco or Morrisons. I told him I’m on the Isle of Man, and we don’t have those big chains here. Then he said he’d check with his manager and ring me back in ten minutes. Something about the whole thing didn’t sit right with me. Later, I found this website and saw someone else had the exact same conversation with a guy just like that. It’s really upsetting how phone scams make us scared to pick up the phone these days.

Absolute scam! They managed to trick my elderly mum into thinking she’d get a cheque if she bought a £75 Tesco gift card. She even got a taxi to Tesco herself! Thankfully, the manager there stopped her from buying it just in time. We’ve reported it to the police, but now my poor mum’s terrified to be on her own at home. What utter scoundrels!

I got a call from someone claiming to be with the Inland Revenue, asking me to transfer money to an account right away to unlock some funds supposedly owed to me. I rang the Inland Revenue myself and they told me they never phone anyone - all communications come through letters sent to your home. Please don’t share any info with these people, they’re definitely scammers trying to steal your bank details and cash. You should never have to pay money to get paid - it’s like paying your employer just to get your wages! These lot are seriously dodgy!

This bloke said he was with the Government saying I could get back bank charges or summat. He told me not to pay a thing just yet and said I had to take a photo ID to some solicitor down in Brighton.
