‭020 8133 6951‬ Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying his name was 'James' and that he was Catholic. He said he was from something called the 'Further Education Centre.' When I told him to take my details off their list, he wouldn’t tell me where they are based.

Definitely a spam caller!! I use a made-up name when signing up for betting sites and they asked for that name. I just told them they dialled the wrong number. If it was really HMRC, they wouldn’t have my phone and would already know my real name. Don’t get tricked, just block them straight away!! Pro tip: always use a fake name when giving out your number online so you can spot dodgy calls since they only know that fake name tied to your mobile.

I didn’t answer so I’m not sure who it was, but ever since I put something up for sale on Gumtree, I’ve been getting loads of annoying calls pretending to be from London but actually from India. Gumtree says it keeps your number private, but I’ve had at least 3 spam calls right after my ad went live. It’s quite frustrating.

This number keeps ringing me non-stop, I never pick up but got loads of voicemails from some robotic American voice saying it’s HMRC and they’re gonna take me to court. It’s so daft and totally ridiculous, actually made me chuckle how badly done it is! Obviously a scam. It’d really scare older or vulnerable folks though, these sorts of calls should be banned! I’ve just gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Got a voicemail from 02081332951 saying it was the final warning about some fraud case from HMRC and mentioned court action. I called them back but they were kinda dodgy and wouldn’t say where a letter they claimed to have sent in Feb went. Is this number legit for HMRC? If not, can someone tell me? Someone said this was HMRC, but the number’s a London one and I’ve never dealt with the London branch. They even called on a Saturday morning, which is odd. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam, and reading through these messages just confirms it. Don’t call them back!!

Today, my 90 year old mum got a call from these people. They kept asking for my dad, saying they were from HMRC and really needed to talk to him. My dad actually died three years ago!! It was really distressing for her, and since I don't live close by, I couldn’t be there to support her. Calls like this really should be banned.

Got a call about 20 minutes ago from someone saying I owe money due to a tax recalculation by HMRC. They started threatening court and even arrest, telling me to get a lawyer or solicitor ready. Honestly, it stressed me out a bit. When I asked for the account team's number to call them back, they just wished me luck with the court case and then hung up.

Got about 5 messages saying I was due a refund on my car tax, asking for my info to sort it out. Then today, they actually called me, saying it was their final try to get in touch and now it’s heading to magistrates for me not paying back the tax. They even threatened I’d end up in jail if I didn’t call them straight away!!!

Got two voice messages on my answerphone yesterday from a robotic female voice with an American accent, saying I had to call back straight away, claimed to be HMRC. I picked up today and got the same automated message warning me it was a final notice and that I needed to call to get a case number about a magistrates court. After reading the reviews here, I decided not to call and have blocked the number.

Got a call from HMRC saying i needed to call them back right away about a serious issue. Sounded exactly like what others here described. I just hung up. This number rang me up a couple times and I figured it was just another scam, but the third time they mentioned magistrate court, which really freaked me out. When I phoned back, some Indian bloke gave me an HRMC employment number 058890. He said there was an issue with my tax returns from 2014, 2015, and 2016 and I owed money. When I asked what address they had for me, he told me one I haven’t lived at since 2004 and then he just hung up on me.

I phoned them back yesternight and some Indian bloke called Agent Fred from HMRC?? told me I owed tax from 2011, 12, 13 and 14 adding up to £2900 and accused me of fraud and tax dodging. I played along and asked if he wanted my bank details, he said I could take on the government. I asked again if he needed my bank info, then I told Agent Fred nicely to get lost and stop trying to rip people off, reminding him we’re not all daft. Then he just hung up on me!!!
