Got a text from this number today claiming it was HMRC. They gave me some ref code, WC4589, and said I'd done something illegal and there was a warrant out to arrest me. When I phoned the number back, just an automated voice said no one could answer. What’s weird is they never even said who they were in the message!

An awful scam targeting an 86-year-old pensioner, claiming she had committed a crime and threatening jail time. It really shook her up badly. These cruel folks making such panic-inducing calls at random should definitely be tracked down and stopped.

Got a voicemail claiming there was some kind of complaint from HMRC and that they’d issued an arrest warrant. Total rubbish, but still pretty annoying.

Got a call from this number claiming HMRC's put out a warrant for my arrest. Told me to ring back to sort it out.

I got two calls recently, one saying there was a case against me from HMRC, the next one claimed they had an arrest warrant for me and left this phone number to ring back. I was really shook up and upset, so I rang my daughter who told me to just ignore it because it’s a scam. Still, I’ve been stressing about it since they mentioned this warrant number wc4589. I looked up that number to check if others had the same calls. Does anyone know how I can make it stop?

So I got a call from a man with an asian accent who was warning me about being arrested. Later on, I called the number back pretending to be from HMRC and asked for my National Insurance details. Definitely just a scam trying to get info.
