In 2019, my dad got calls from this number and a few others listed here, and they somehow managed to get access to both his phone and computer. Back in 2019, my dad got a call from this number and some others listed below. They somehow managed to access both his phone and computer, convincing him to log into his Hotmail and online bank accounts. Thankfully, no cash was stolen, but honestly, don’t trust these calls! The numbers that contacted him were 0206 133 2416, 07235 874753, 0345 345345, and a Spanish number 00 34 57345345.

Initially, they claimed to be from Amazon Prime, but then switched to pretending they were from BT and insisted it’d be £97 to sort out the problem. Then they asked for my bank info, which felt off right away.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be from BT saying some stranger had logged into our Amazon account and was about to set up a Prime membership. I told him we already have Prime but he kept insisting he needed our Amazon login info. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Heads up! I got a call on my home phone from a bloke who said his name was ‘Jordan’ and had an Indian accent. He claimed to be working for BT and warned me about someone attempting to hack into my BT router. He wanted to check my IP address, but I said I'd have my son call him back instead. He gave me this number: 0208 133 2416. I decided to look it up using 1471 and discovered the actual number he called from was 01865 352 382. Turns out, it was the scammer trying to hack me!

I got a call about my internet being hacked, but it felt like a total scam trying to get money outta me. Just a heads up, watch out for stuff like this!

Got a recorded call, said it was BT telling me someone was using my broadband, asked me to press 1 to disconnect or 2 to do something about it. I didn’t press anything but then a bloke with an Asian accent started talking - he said his name was Daniel David from BT. He kept going on about unauthorised access to my broadband. I asked for his number and he gave it straight away, but yeah, there’s no way I’ll be calling him back. Total scam in my book.

I got a call from someone called William Jonathan, sounded Asian, claiming he was from BT. He asked for my number, which I gave him, then he said he’d ring back in about 10 minutes. I decided to check his number on this site and told him straight up he was involved in a scam.

Got a call from someone with an asian accent who said he was Michael Williams and gave an employee ID ds 100989. He told me that someone was hacking into my Openreach broadband. I asked for his full details so I could verify with Openreach directly, which is what brought me here.

I received a rather alarming message yesterday claiming, "This is BT, and your broadband line has been compromised by nefarious individuals and will be disconnected at midnight." Out of sheer curiosity, I pressed 1 as instructed, and ended up speaking to a chap who introduced himself as James Wilson, who had quite a noticeable Caribbean lilt. He mentioned he was calling from 81 Newgate Street, right across from St Paul's station - a step up in credibility compared to most calls of this nature. I then inquired about the number he was phoning from, which he promptly provided. I told him I’d ring him back and hung up. It's worth noting that this was far more convincingly crafted than the typical scam calls and could potentially mislead those who are less sceptical, particularly the elderly.

Got one of those classic "BT" calls claiming my IP was hacked, and this cheery Indian guy was ready to "sort" it out for me. When I pressed him on how I could trust he wasn’t the culprit, he gave me this supposedly "very safe" number to ring back. 99% certain it was a con, but now I’m absolutely convinced! Just a heads up - don’t fall for it.

Oh yeah, definitely a scam. Got a call off this Maria - she said it’s pronounced maa-ree-a. She kept going on about how all internet providers fall under BT, but we don’t even have BT for our broadband. Total nonsense. I had a funny feeling about it right away. She told me I could phone her back before 3pm, but when I asked what time their office closes, she just dodged the question. Absolutely dishonest. Total con artists.

Got a call from a strange number (01282076823) claiming to be BT saying my internet had issues. They told me to press Control R on my computer so they could show the fault. I wasn't comfortable with that and said I'd call back to check if it really was BT. They gave me a number to call, but this whole thing felt dodgy. Seriously, watch out for this scam - if one of my kids had picked up, they might’ve fallen for it.

Today I got a voicemail from some company that sounded like BT warning me my broadband and phone line were about to be cut off. They said to press 1 to speak to tech support or press 2 to let the disconnection go ahead. Then this number rang and a bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was Sam Jones called. I told him I’d ring back later and he gave me this same number. While I’ve been writing this, I got another automated call just like the first one. Now I’m sitting here expecting Sam to ring back because I didn’t call him. I’ll post an update when I find out more. Definitely scammers, no doubt.

This number kept calling us all day and foolishly, my hubby did exactly what the bloke told him. The guy claimed he was from BT Openreach and said someone was trying to hack into our PC. To stop it, he told my husband to do certain things, which he did. What should we do next?

Got a call from this number at around 9.10am today, with a warning that my IP address was supposedly at risk. Then I got a recorded message with an American tone, telling me I was being put through to BT tech support. But the bloke who answered had a thick Indian accent and said his name was Harry! I asked him to verify he really worked for BT by providing my BT account details, but he refused, saying he couldn’t share that info on the phone. Instead, he told me I could ring BT on 02081332416 and he’d answer to prove he was genuine - which clearly he wasn’t. I didn’t call back and he phoned me again asking why I hadn’t called. Needless to say, I’ve blocked this number now.

Got a call from this exact number as well, someone calling themselves Angalina William. They asked for a sort code and account details, supposedly to send money to Santander. The bloke said his name was Mr Lyyonel Senatus. Funny thing is, they kept telling me not to inform my bank. I didn’t fall for it and definitely didn’t send any cash!

Around 9.48 this morning, I got a call from this number. A bloke called Raja claimed he was calling to fix blockages affecting my BT internet since it was running really slow. He kept pushing hard, but luckily I didn't give him any details. I instantly thought it might be dodgy and asked for his number so I could call BT directly. He happily gave it, saying it was safe and he'd guide me step-by-step through the process and provide some unique software licence ID or something... total scam, no doubt about it.

Today I got a call from some Angelina Williams, and I gotta say, she was pretty sneaky, using that smooth, flirty tone to try and fool me. Things got fishy when I mentioned I only had about £170 in my bank, and I swear I heard her reaction change. Then she started pleading with me not to chat with anyone else and even gave me this 'secret password' to prove it was really her. That’s when I realised something wasn’t right. Now she’s really eager to catch me on the phone again tomorrow. No chance I’m falling for that!

Just got a call from some bloke who said his name was Alex Parker - bit odd for an Indian guy, right? He seemed pretty chill about giving his phone number and said it could be checked. I didn’t bother calling back, thought I’d peek here first, so cheers to everyone for sharing info. I used to be with BT and theres no way they’d pull a stunt like this.

So, I got a call from a guy claiming his name was Alex Parker, which sounded a bit off, especially with that accent. He was pretty chill about sharing his number and even urged me to confirm it. I didn't ring back straight away, decided to have a look here first - cheers to everyone who shares info.
Back in my days at BT, nothing like this would have happened.

Now he’s ringing me again, trying to make sure I confirmed the number and even argued that I should call him back to check it. They've got some nerve, honestly. Definitely not how BT would handle things.

I got a call on my home phone from a man claiming my internet was running slowly. He said his name was David Watson and that he worked for BT. To be sure, I dialled the number he gave me on my mobile, and a bloke answering said it was legit and he was with BT. Still, I wasn’t convinced, so I searched that phone number online and landed on this website. Cheers for the heads-up, everyone! I hung up both phones, and although he kept calling, I just ignored him and eventually he gave up trying.

I got a call from what I think was scammers in Amsterdam saying my internet was running super slow. Got a call from this number claiming to be from BT Openreach, saying my IP was getting hacked. They told me to check my IP online and claimed it showed a location in Amsterdam. According to them, someone there was trying to hack into my system, and only BT could sort it out! Something felt off, so I asked for the caller’s name and contact number. She said her name was Angelina Williams, but you could tell she was working from a call centre somewhere overseas. I cut the call and after a quick Google search, I found out it’s a scam. They really sounded believable though.

These scammers called me claiming my internet was slow and tried to get into my router. I played along for a bit to see what they’d say, but firmly told them I wasn’t giving them any access. I also asked them to take my number off their calling list, quoting GDPR rules - the person on the line said they’d do it. I’m curious if they’ll call again from a different number. When I answered, I pressed #1 to get through to an engineer, but it turned out to be a recorded message with an American accent, then they transferred me to a call centre in India. I didn’t share any info and just had a laugh wasting their time!

Someone claiming to be David Watson rang my home number from 02081332416. He said he was calling on behalf of BT and warned that someone had tried to hack into our internet connection, so they needed to sort out our online security. This isn’t the first time either - my daughter spent nearly an hour on the phone with them once before, doing whatever they asked without realising. It was only when they started telling her to log into Google and her email, and then asked about our internet banking, saying it was to protect it from hackers, that she got suspicious. She mentioned it to me almost a year ago, and right away I knew these were likely scammers. I felt it was important to share this experience, hoping it might help others spot these fraudsters and maybe even lead to some action being taken against them.
