Back in 2019, my dad got a call from this number and some others listed below. They somehow managed to access both his phone and computer, convincing him to log into his Hotmail and online bank accounts. Thankfully, no cash was stolen, but honestly, don’t trust these calls! The numbers that contacted him were 0206 133 2416, 07235 874753, 0345 345345, and a Spanish number 00 34 57345345.

Initially, they claimed to be from Amazon Prime, but then switched to pretending they were from BT and insisted it’d be £97 to sort out the problem. Then they asked for my bank info, which felt off right away.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be from BT saying some stranger had logged into our Amazon account and was about to set up a Prime membership. I told him we already have Prime but he kept insisting he needed our Amazon login info. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Heads up! I got a call on my home phone from a bloke who said his name was ‘Jordan’ and had an Indian accent. He claimed to be working for BT and warned me about someone attempting to hack into my BT router. He wanted to check my IP address, but I said I'd have my son call him back instead. He gave me this number: 0208 133 2416. I decided to look it up using 1471 and discovered the actual number he called from was 01865 352 382. Turns out, it was the scammer trying to hack me!

Got a recorded call, said it was BT telling me someone was using my broadband, asked me to press 1 to disconnect or 2 to do something about it. I didn’t press anything but then a bloke with an Asian accent started talking - he said his name was Daniel David from BT. He kept going on about unauthorised access to my broadband. I asked for his number and he gave it straight away, but yeah, there’s no way I’ll be calling him back. Total scam in my book.

I got a call from someone called William Jonathan, sounded Asian, claiming he was from BT. He asked for my number, which I gave him, then he said he’d ring back in about 10 minutes. I decided to check his number on this site and told him straight up he was involved in a scam.

Got a call from someone with an asian accent who said he was Michael Williams and gave an employee ID ds 100989. He told me that someone was hacking into my Openreach broadband. I asked for his full details so I could verify with Openreach directly, which is what brought me here.

I received a rather alarming message yesterday claiming, "This is BT, and your broadband line has been compromised by nefarious individuals and will be disconnected at midnight." Out of sheer curiosity, I pressed 1 as instructed, and ended up speaking to a chap who introduced himself as James Wilson, who had quite a noticeable Caribbean lilt. He mentioned he was calling from 81 Newgate Street, right across from St Paul's station - a step up in credibility compared to most calls of this nature. I then inquired about the number he was phoning from, which he promptly provided. I told him I’d ring him back and hung up. It's worth noting that this was far more convincingly crafted than the typical scam calls and could potentially mislead those who are less sceptical, particularly the elderly.

I received the usual phone call from someone claiming to be from BT, informing me that my IP address had been compromised. They were quite insistent in offering their assistance to resolve the issue. However, I found it suspicious and questioned how I could be certain that they were not the ones causing the problem. In response, they provided me with a "super-secure" number to call. Despite being 99% convinced it was a scam, I am now completely convinced. Take caution and do not trust anything they say.

Absolutely, it's without a doubt a scam. I received a call from a woman named Maria, pronounced as maa-ree-a. Here's the thing, our internet service isn't even provided by BT. But she had the audacity to claim that all providers fall under the BT umbrella. It's complete rubbish, I could sense something fishy right from the beginning. Don't be deceived by their claims! To make matters worse, she mentioned I could call her back before 3 pm, dodging my question about when the company actually closes for the day. These people are nothing but liars. Total liars!

I recently received a call from an unfamiliar number (01282076823). The individual claimed to be from BT and informed me about an issue with my internet. They requested that I press Control R on my computer so they could demonstrate the problem. However, I expressed my hesitation, as I wanted to confirm if the call was indeed genuine by contacting BT myself. To support their legitimacy, the caller provided me with another number. These individuals are clearly scammers. It is crucial that we remain cautious. If one of my children had answered the call, they might have been easily deceived.

Earlier today, I received a pre-recorded message from BT(?), claiming that both my landline and internet services were at risk of being terminated. I was given the options to press 1 to speak with the technical team or 2 to proceed with the termination. Shortly after, a call came in from an individual named Sam Jones, who had an Indian accent. I asked if it would be possible for me to call him back later, and he provided me with his contact number. As I write this comment, I have just received another automated call that mimicked the first one. Now, I am waiting for a callback from Sam(?), wondering why I haven't returned his call. I will provide an update later. It is evident that these individuals are scammers - without a doubt.

This number kept calling us all day and foolishly, my hubby did exactly what the bloke told him. The guy claimed he was from BT Openreach and said someone was trying to hack into our PC. To stop it, he told my husband to do certain things, which he did. What should we do next?

I received a call at 9.10am this morning from the following number, falsely claiming that my IP address had been compromised. I was then transferred to someone identifying themselves as BT technical support with an American accent, only to discover that the person I was speaking to had an Indian accent and claimed to be named Harry. In order to verify his authenticity, I asked for my BT account number and other information, but he stated that he wasn't allowed to provide such information over the phone. However, he suggested that I could confirm his identity by calling 02081332416, further confirming that he was not a genuine representative of BT. It became quite evident that this individual was attempting to deceive me. Ignoring his request for a callback, I blocked the number shortly thereafter.

It's 9.48 am and I just received a call from a person named Raja on this number. He claimed to be from BT and said that he was calling to resolve the slow internet connection caused by blockages. He was quite persistent in his approach. Luckily, he was unsuccessful in obtaining any information from me. Knowing that this could potentially be a scam, I requested his number so that I could call him back at BT. Surprisingly, he willingly gave me the number and reassured me that it was secure. He also mentioned that he would guide me through a process and provide me with a unique software ID, claiming it was necessary. However, it soon became evident that it was all a scam.

Today, I received a call from Angelina Williams who had a very smooth manner and used her seductive voice to manipulate me. I started getting suspicious when I mentioned having only £170 in my account - I swear I could hear her jaw drop. She pleaded with me not to speak to anyone else, providing me with a secret password as a way to verify her identity. That's when I realized something was off. Clearly, she is eager to talk to me tomorrow. Well, isn't that something!

I received a call from someone claiming to be named Alex Parker, but with an Indian accent. This seemed highly unlikely. They seemed willing to provide a contact number for verification purposes. However, I decided to refrain from calling back and checked online first. Thank you to those who have shared their experiences here. By the way, during my time working at BT, they never engaged in such practices.

I recently received a phone call from a person claiming to be an Indian gentleman named Alex Parker, which seemed quite dubious. They were content with sharing their number and having it validated. Instead of calling back right away, I decided to double-check here first. I appreciate everyone who has shared their experiences.
As a former BT employee, I can confidently say that they would never engage in such practices.

Interestingly, they just called me again to inquire about whether I had indeed verified the number. Moreover, they argued with me, stating that I should call to verify. They truly have no shame. BT would never behave in such a manner.

I received a call from an individual named David Watson claiming to be from BT, who informed me that my internet connection was slow. To establish his identity, I dialed the number he provided using my mobile phone, and a person purporting to be from BT affirmed that he was indeed legitimate. However, I had doubts and decided to conduct a quick search of the phone number online. Fortunately, I stumbled upon this site that issued a warning. I promptly ended the calls on both phones. Despite several attempts from the caller to reach out again, I ignored the repeated calls until he eventually ceased his efforts. I am grateful for the cautionary advice provided by fellow individuals concerned about such scams.

I have experienced a scam where individuals claimed to be from Amsterdam, reporting slow internet connection issues. Subsequently, they took control of my computer in order to carry out fraudulent bank transactions. It is crucial not to provide them with any personal information. I want to warn others about these phony criminals named William and Angelina who are involved in this fraudulent activity. I sincerely hope that they face punishment for their actions.

Earlier today, I received a phone call from a particular number claiming to be BT Openreach. The caller informed me that my IP address was under threat of being hacked. They insisted that I should immediately search for my IP address on Google, which revealed its location as Amsterdam. According to the deceitful individual, someone in Amsterdam was attempting to infiltrate my computer, and only BT could resolve this issue. Despite their seemingly convincing tone, my gut instinct advised against trusting them completely. Thus, I cautiously requested for the caller's name and contact number, to which she provided "Angelina Williams." However, I discerned that she was actually situated in a foreign call centre based on her accent. Following my instincts, I terminated the call and decided to search the aforementioned number on Google, only to discover that it was associated with a scam.

Fraudsters... I decided to play along just to see what they were up to. They claimed I had issues with my internet connection and insisted on having access to my router. I politely declined their request, making it clear that I wouldn't give them any access. I also requested that they remove my number from their call list, mentioning the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The person on the other end of the line assured me that my request would be honored. Now, I will patiently wait and see if I receive any similar calls from a different number. When the call came, I pressed #1 to speak to an engineer, but instead encountered a recorded voice with an American accent. Turns out, the call was actually routed to a call center in India. I didn't provide them with any information but merely enjoyed wasting their time :-)

I received a phone call on my landline today from a man named David Watson. He claimed to be from BT and stated that they had discovered someone attempting to use our internet connection illegally. Their supposed aim was to protect our online security. This reminded me of a previous incident when my daughter had a similar conversation lasting almost an hour with people claiming to be from BT. In that conversation, they requested her to perform various tasks on her computer. She then realized that they could potentially be hackers, as their requests extended to opening emails and discussing online banking details, under the pretext of securing it from hacking. Upon hearing my daughter's story, I immediately became suspicious, as I remembered a similar incident she encountered almost a year ago. Therefore, I believe it is important to share this case in order to identify these individuals and take appropriate legal action against them.
