I got calls from 01794 470148 and 01643 370187, both part of the same scam. They said they were from National Grid and that our smart meters were faulty and had to be swapped out. Just ended the call and blocked the numbers straight away.

Got a call from a woman named Marriy claiming to be from National Grid, saying they needed to replace our meter and wanted to arrange a date. The call showed up from this number 02030231113, which was linked to someone called Sheerat Fatima. When I asked for a callback number, she gave me 02081330093, ext 501, but then said she had no idea who Sheerat was. I work at a large charity, and anything like meter replacements are sorted out by our facilities team, not random calls. Not sure what the scam was exactly, I said I’d ring them back but never did.

These lot called saying my electric meter was due for an upgrade, but it's all a load of rubbish. Just trying to get your personal info, watch out for them! I’ve blocked the number now.

Today, I received a call from someone claiming to be from EDF, which I currently use as my energy provider. They requested a photo of my meter reading to be sent via WhatsApp. Oddly enough, this isn't the first time they've called me-I've had three calls from them, including one yesterday. I had a nagging feeling that it might be a scam, so I decided to hang up. Just thought I should share it. Cheers, John. John Bird Studio-Art Gallery, Bawtry, Doncaster.

I recently received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the National Grid, saying they needed to replace the meter at my home. They rattled off a date and time without pausing for breath, which set off alarm bells for me. It's worth noting that the National Grid doesn't handle meter changes; that's the responsibility of utility companies. I pointed this out to the caller, but they just hung up. Clearly, this is a dodgy operation that lies through its teeth.

It was mentioned that a particular individual ought to visit my establishment to sort out my electricity provider, and as a result, my power supply will be cut off for about 40 minutes.

I received a call from this number, and the individual on the other end claimed to be representing the national grid. They were keen to obtain our account information under the pretext of updating our gas and electricity meters. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

They rang up, pretending to be from the national grid, saying they needed to come round and swap out our meter. However, they kept bombarding us with pointless questions that had nothing to do with the task at hand. Just a heads-up: don’t divulge any personal details to them.

Definitely a scam. Someone called saying my meter needed replacing, so I chatted with a supposed staff member and arranged a date for it. But then I got an email and reached out to my energy company, who confirmed everything was fine on their end. When I tried to reply to that email to cancel, it bounced back saying the address doesn’t exist. The email also asked for stuff like a photo of my meter and who my provider is. I didn’t share any of that info, obviously.

I've had a similar experience! Someone pretending to be from the National Grid called me, so I decided to reach out to them directly. Turns out, they confirmed that they're not responsible for changing meters-that's actually the job of your energy supplier. Definitely a scam!

I received a call earlier today from someone claiming to be with the National Grid, telling me that my meter needed replacing and I had to jot down my new meter number for their visit on the 5th of February. When I mentioned I was occupied and requested his number to call him back, I did a bit of digging and realised it was a con. I called “Harry” back and told him to cancel the appointment, but he became rather pushy. I ended up hanging up on him. He tried ringing me back a staggering 20 times, and each time, I simply disconnected. In the end, he seemed to relent!

Just received a call purporting to be from the National Grid, insisting that my electric meter needs replacing as they allege it’s faulty. They even mentioned I might be eligible for a refund! However, they then transfered me to what they said was a secure line for further details. I told them I’m not involved in the business and stated clearly that I want to consult with the owner before I continue this conversation. They were quite persistent about me providing my date of birth, which I outright declined. They did offer me a different number to ring back, completely distinct from the one they rang me on. A quick search revealed both numbers to be unlinked to National Grid, and they’re flagged as potential scams. I've blocked the number and now I’m just waiting for the email they promised to send! 😂

Got a call from a guy named Sam about changing my meter, left a message and then I called him back on 0208 1330093 ext 7012. His English was really hard to understand and he wouldn't clearly say why the meter had to be changed, just kept saying it was faulty. Felt a bit iffy about the whole thing and told him to email me details before I agreed to anything. Later, I checked with my supplier and they said they never asked for a new meter and that I should just ignore calls from that number.

Hello there, I recently got a rather dodgy call from 02820539011. A chap claiming to be Mr Azan Ali stated he was ringing on behalf of the National Grid. He insisted they’d received an email about my electric meter supposedly leaking units and offered to replace it with a smart meter. I must admit, I was quite taken aback and promptly told him I had no interest in a smart meter at all. When I inquired how he came by the information regarding the alleged leak, he urged me to jot down the number of the new meter and read it out to his supervisor for registration. Before being passed on to his manager, I insisted on getting his contact details, which he provided as 02081330093. However, when I was switched to the so-called manager and confronted him, the line went completely dead. Feeling suspicious, I did a quick search online, and it turned out to be a total scam. I can't stress enough how important it is to question any unsolicited calls like that!

This number rang me up, with a bloke claiming an engineer was scheduled to replace our meter on a certain day. When I questioned who he was and which company he represented, he got all dodgy and sounded quite pushy. I asked him multiple times to spell out the company’s name, but he just couldn’t manage it. Felt really fishy to me. Then he started probing for details about the manager, like their name and gender, and got annoyed when I told him we’d contact them if it was relevant.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the national grid and needed to swap our electricity meter. It just so happened we’d had a smart meter installed the week before, so he already had my mobile number before I even thought it was dodgy. Total scam if you ask me.

This number called me, claiming they had to swap out my meter and set a day to come round. When the day came, no one showed. I called them back, but the English was awful, even though they gave names like Alan and butchered the name of my town. They couldn’t even get the NATO alphabet right. Then suddenly they started talking about payments. Told them where to go. Totally a scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call from someone named Ibrahim, said he was ringing from National Grid about our electricity meter needing replacement, mentioned the power might be off for a whole day. I’m in Birmingham, and he was eager to schedule it. Didn’t want to send any proof or email confirmation though. Left a return number as 02081330093, but the call came from 02080891785. He told me to reference his work ID, which was 7008. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Josh at National Grid saying our electricity meter had to be replaced and power would be shut off for about an hour. He asked for a contact number for our department to sort it out. When I said I wasn’t the right person, he gave me 02081330093 to ring back and to use his name as a reference. He also mentioned I’d need to provide ID and details. The call came through on our business line. Feels like a total scam to me.

He mentioned they needed to swap out our meter on a certain date and time but said we could reschedule if necessary.
