I found this number on Alexa and gave it a ring. They sounded totally legit, but honestly, be careful!

Just like the person before me, I got a callback about an hour later. It seemed like it was supposed to be Microsoft Tech support, but I got suspicious real quick when they asked to control my computer. They never even bothered to ask who I was or what the issue might be. Definitely be cautious everyone.

I rang a number that seemed like it was for Microsoft support. The bloke on the other end had a heavy Indian accent and didn’t really come across as being very well informed. He mentioned someone would get back to me within an hour. When the callback came through, I told the person it wasn’t my computer and I didn’t know the password, and they quickly ended the call. To be fair, he did sound reasonably convincing at first.

This was a total rip off. They said they were support and needed to get on my computer. Then they told me my PC was full of viruses and that everything I was doing was dangerous. After that, they insisted I pay up to get it sorted. They also said Malwarebytes was useless, which seemed a bit odd to me. Definitely not to be trusted!

I received a call from an individual with an Indian accent, who identified himself as part of the support team for Epson Printers. He attempted to gain access to my computer.

Some bloke calling himself ‘Adam Parsons’ tried to con my dad out of £599, pretending to be from some tech support outfit. He claimed he was fixing my dad’s computer and insisted on selling him 10 licences for McAfee to protect multiple PCs, even though there’s just one PC here. Dad’s been getting loads of PayPal payment requests via email, and today the guy even rang while we were round, demanding payment. We told him to stop or we’d involve the cops because he’s clearly targeting vulnerable people. What a horrible scammer!

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be Epson Printer's support. They wanted me to hold down the ctrl and windows key to 'fix' something on my laptop. I wasn't having any of it and made sure they knew to back off straight away.
