Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from Domestic & General about my white goods insurance. She said they needed new bank card details since my card had changed. I wasn’t convinced, so I looked up her number online and found this very site. I told her straight it sounded fishy and asked where she was calling from. After a pause, she said she was supposedly at 143 Osborne Street, London. I warned her not to try scamming anyone else today and then ended the call.

I’ve been getting calls for years from people pretending to be from D and G, saying they’re renewing a policy that doesn’t even exist. Every time I ask for a policy number, they clam up, and they get annoyed when I don’t give them my actual bank info. I’ve blocked the number now, but I’m sure they’ll ring again soon using a different fake number.

I had a similar experience, but it wasn't with my housing association. An Indian lady contacted me, but her English was quite limited, making it hard for me to grasp what she was trying to convey. I expressed my confusion, saying I couldn’t follow what she was saying, yet she didn’t bother to acknowledge that or even offer a simple thank you before hanging up. I found that rather discourteous. Behaving like that won’t do them any favours in getting the job done.

The caller’s English was quite poor, making it rather challenging to follow what she was saying; I had to ask her to repeat certain parts multiple times. When I responded that I didn't have any issues, she simply thanked me and hung up. It could be a legitimate query, but I’ll wait for written confirmation from my housing provider.
