Just got a call from 0208 089 1327 and when I answered, there was an automated message threatening me with legal trouble if I didn't respond. Seemed dodgy so I just blocked the number and left it alone!

Answer the phone with a hello and the automated voice just hangs up. Definitely a spam call!

BEWARE, this was one of those scary prerecorded calls. I know HMRC usually sends letters in those small brown envelopes, not calls like this. I've reported it already.

Got calls from this number six times today, each one just a robotic voice that simply says “Goodbye!” Honestly, no clue what they're trying to achieve, but it’s honestly just annoying and feels like harassment!

Got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC saying if I didn’t ring back there’d be legal trouble. Decided to block the number straight away.

It just kept beeping with no one talking, then a robot voice said bye. So I went ahead and blocked the number, lol.

Got a call flagged as a scam, so I just let it ring out. Left a voicemail, sounded like some robotic "Goodbye" message. I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Afterwards, they offered me a chance to resolve things without going to court - then passed me over to another caller. This new person told me to log into the HMRC site and follow some steps to pay. There was a spot for a reference ID, so I asked what it was and when I'd link it to my details on the website - they said they’d explain all that soon. That’s when things got odd - they mentioned I had to visit a post office or a Morrison's to get a form for the tax office and asked if there was one close by.

Once I figured out they didn’t mind me staying on the line while I rang HMRC, I just hung up. It suddenly made sense that they were only trying to keep me stuck on that pricey phone number for ages! No wonder he was so chill about me making the call.

Honestly, looking back and telling mates about this, I still cringe at how I fell for the whole thing. Right from the start, it reeked of a scam. But at the time, I was proper stressed - had just sat a big exam and was on edge. Plus, I’d just bought my flat on my own, and these lot were threatening me saying I’d lose everything and be charged with a crime. Felt like I didn’t stand a chance.

I got caught off guard when I was feeling really vulnerable - it’s mad how fear messes with your thinking. Even though my instincts screamed this was a dodgy call, I couldn’t just hang up because there was this tiny chance it might be legit. Makes me wonder how many people in tough spots fall for this every day. For a moment, I felt like I was in some thriller, like in Taken, with just a day to save my ‘daughter’ - except it was ‘HMRC’ demanding £6,000! What a difference! These scammers are honestly heartless. Seriously, don’t pick up or call them back!

Right from the beginning, I had a gut feeling this was dodgy, but they play on your fears so well it makes you question everything, just in case it’s the real deal. They dropped a voicemail about some court order, and the voice sounded a bit robotic or automated. Still, there was this tiny part inside me that insisted I better check it out properly just to be certain it wasn’t something serious.

i rang them back just to check and it turned out to be one of those dodgy scam call centres pretending to be hmrc. i asked the bloke how i was meant to believe he was from hmrc, and he went all quiet, clearly caught out. real hmrc always sends letters, never calls like that. best to just block that number!

Got a call supposedly from HMRC, left this odd message talking about taxes but with a really strange passive aggressive tone. It sounded like a woman or maybe a robot and had an American accent, which was odd.

This morning, I got a call from this number claiming they were from the HMRC office in London. The person said I owed £6287 in unpaid tax from 2013-2017 and accused me of being a criminal suspect. They told me my case was sent from the local tax office to London HQ and pressured me to pay up, threatening that the police would visit me within three hours if I didn’t. I contacted the official HMRC helpline afterwards and found out it's a complete scam.

I've been getting loads of quiet calls lately, which used to be so annoying. But now that I actually recognise who’s on the other end when they finally talk, I can't wait to let them have it with a proper stream of swear words before I put them straight on my block list.

I picked up and there was just silence, then suddenly I heard a weird beep followed by a robotic voice saying "goodbye". Feels like they were checking if someone would pick up so they can try to scam us later. No thanks, I’ve blocked the number!

Just an update from before - turns out they’re pretending to be HMRC. I rang them back using a private number, so they knew exactly who I was. When I asked what the call was regarding, without bothering to check my name or anything, they just said it was HMRC and claimed there was some sort of claim against me. Avoid them and block the number, definitely scammers.

I just got a call, picked up but there was nobody there, then this weird beeping noise and total silence after. Don’t think it was anyone I know, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number. Definitely not someone I want to chat with.
