I received a rather late call - nearly 11 in the evening - on my New Zealand mobile from a bloke purporting to represent an investment or commodities trading firm. He went on about me supposedly filling in a form that gave them permission to reach out to me. When I asked him to take my number off their list, he cheekily inquired whether I didn’t wish to boost my earnings. To be clear, I have no ties or agreements with this company whatsoever.

It seemed like it was a youngster on the line - they said "hello" several times and then just cut off.
