I got a call from some bloke called "James" with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from "Amazon Security". He rang me from a different number than this one. I just hung up straight away. Then he called back on this number asking why I’d ended the call. He told me someone was trying to buy a smartphone using my account info. He wanted me to go to my computer so he could 'show me the problem'. I told him there’s no way he’s getting access to my computer and told him to buzz off. I don’t think he called again after that.

I recently received a call from a bloke purporting to be from Amazon, insisting that my account had been hacked. I told him outright that I wasn’t convinced by his story and promptly hung up. After that, I reached out to Amazon's customer service team, and a rather pleasant representative informed me that they never initiate phone calls. All correspondence is strictly via email.

Felt iffy right away, but got more sure it was a scam when he started asking me to point out the control key on my keyboard. Pretty sure he was trying to hijack my computer. Proper dodgy!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Amazon, saying this David Thompson spent £318 on my account. She asked if I got any emails from them but wouldn’t say which email she was talking about. Then she started asking if I was a woman I apparently knew 10 years ago who had my number before. Watch out, she wanted me to log in to my Amazon account to “freeze it.” Quite suspicious if you ask me.

Received a call on a different number, much like what others have mentioned, claiming to be from Amazon regarding a suspicious purchase. They were insistent to the point of being intrusive, trying to gain remote access to my computer. After a fair bit of back and forth, they hung up, only for a so-called "supervisor" to ring this number shortly after, hoping to press on with their agenda. Thankfully, they eventually disconnected too.

Got a call from an Asian woman on this number, but there was loads of static and I couldn’t make out a thing, so I just ended the call. She then phoned me straight back from another number, 0038520853038, and asked why I’d disconnected. I told her I couldn’t hear properly and asked why she called from a different number. Got a call from a woman saying she was with Amazon Security. She wouldn’t answer any of my questions and just ended the call. Definitely a scam, so I’ve blocked the number now.

I received a call from an Asian chap claiming to be based in London, supposedly dealing with Windows 7 issues. He informed me that someone had placed an order for a smartphone on my computer. He insisted on taking control of my device to sort it out. I told him to call me back since I was facing some technical difficulties at that moment. Honestly, it’s nothing but another scam, if you ask me.

Somebody rang me up, said they were from Amazon and that someone was trying to buy stuff with my account. They asked when I last ordered anything. I said I’d have a look at my account first. Just to be safe, I’ve changed all my passwords now.

Earlier today, I received a rather questionable phone call during my lunch. A chap on the other end claimed he was from Amazon and informed me that someone had attempted to purchase a smartphone using my account the previous night. He insisted he had sent me multiple emails regarding this issue, but I’d been keeping an eye on my inbox all morning and had seen absolutely nothing from him. The gentleman mentioned that I needed to assist in cancelling this alleged transaction and wanted me to locate his email. Naturally, I asked how I could possibly verify he was genuinely from Amazon. At that point, he abruptly ended the call. Quite suspicious, I must say!

Some bloke with an Asian accent rang up saying he was from Amazon security. Told me someone had used my Amazon account to order an iPhone. Asked me to check my email for a message. I said sure, then left him hanging for about 5 minutes before I just ended the call. No surprise, he never rang back!

Just got a call from someone saying they were with Visa, claiming money was taken from my bank account. Bit of a change from the lot last week, when it was the border force folks threatening arrest over supposed National Insurance debts.

Got a call last night claiming to be from Microsoft saying my PC had been hacked or something. I told them straight off I’m an IT guy and that their tale was as old as the hills, asking if they really thought I was daft enough to believe it. They just dropped the call. Tried calling the number back, but it just said number can’t be reached. Classic scam really.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Amazon Security, telling me they tried to get into my account and to have a look at my security emails or something. It all sounded dodgy so I just ended the call.

Some lady called me, said her name was Harah and she was with Amazon security. She kept asking me to look for an email from them. I told her I could easily check my email right from my tablet, including the spam folder. But she wouldn’t believe me and kept pressing. In the end, I told her to prove she was actually from Amazon before I turned on my computer, and then she just hung up. Strange behaviour if you ask me.

I've recently received alarming news that I’m flagged as a significant security threat due to a supposed online purchase of explosives! When I disputed this ridiculous claim, the individual suddenly changed their story, insisting that a person from Devon had accessed my account. I firmly stated that I would contact the police about this matter and promptly hung up. Absolutely dreadful characters!

Got a call from a woman saying she was Amazon, telling me my account was hacked and even mentioned my name. She said they’d sent me an email, but I never got anything. Figured it was a scam trying to get me to click a dodgy link, so I hung up. Afterwards, I went ahead and enabled two-factor authentication just to be safe.
