Whenever I get calls from unfamiliar numbers on my landline, I just let it go to the answerphone with no reply. If it was someone legit, they’d leave a message, which would make me think about calling back. This one just joined my huge list of dodgy numbers I reckon are scams - so frustrating! I've received a couple of calls purportedly from HMRC, warning that there’s a significant lawsuit filed against me, insisting I must ring this number to avert more severe ramifications. My 90 year old mum got a call from this number saying she owed taxes. Maybe a bit daft, I called back and ended up speaking to a bloke with an Indian accent who claimed he was from HMRC and was the case officer for some legal issue against Cxxxx Rxxx? How did he even know my mum's name? Do these people go after the elderly on purpose? He was nice enough to give me a case number, CV11692016.
