Ref, 02080685421 I’ve been caught out by these lot too. It started with £130, then they demanded £175 more. They dragged in the British Bankers Association, but turns out those lot don’t even recognise them - not members at all. This morning, 27/04/17, they rang me up yet again, still after cash. Honestly, they’ve wiped me out. I doubt I’ll ever see a penny back since I paid willingly. NEVER going near this nonsense again. I've reported them to the police and my bank’s fraud team. Be very careful!

I was looking to get a £20,000 loan through this firm. They asked me to pay £425 for some PPI cover, which I went along with, thinking it was a reasonable safeguard for such a large amount. A bit later, they rang me again, but this time the voice sounded the same even though the caller gave a different name and said they had a new job title. They told me that the government had frozen my money and that I needed to pay £550 in tax to release it. I’ve reported all this to my bank’s fraud department and they are currently investigating, but honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever see that money back. I applied for a loan and was told I’d be approved if I paid £125 upfront, which I did. Then, out of nowhere, they asked me for another £180. Keep in mind, I’m applying because I’m already short on cash, so this money isn’t mine to spare. Next thing I know, they want another £300! I’m at my wit’s end and can’t stop crying. Honestly don’t know where else to turn for help.

They wanted 3 payments but I only managed to pay twice - I just ran out of money and they ended up taking what I had. Hey, just wanted to share my experience with a place called Care4finance. I didn’t have any property or a guarantor, so they said they’d do an insurance on the loan. They asked me for an upfront fee, but weirdly told me to buy an iTunes card from Tesco to cover it. At first, I was a bit iffy about paying that fee, but they assured me the cash would hit my bank within an hour. Taking their word, I popped down to Tesco and got a £225 iTunes card, which was the insurance charge, and sent them the card details. After about 45 minutes, bless it, £12,000 showed up in my bank. I was well chuffed because I really needed the money to clear my debts and sort out all my outstanding bills.

It's only been a few days and there's already loads of bad reviews here. I just wanted to check this number after applying for a loan. I’ve no intention of calling them back. I did a bit of digging and it turns out they aren’t connected to Care Finance and Loans at all - their website actually says so. Also, the phone numbers don’t match and are from different areas. I was lucky enough not to pick up their call, but I know some people haven’t been so fortunate. These firms really should be stopped. The Action Fraud website has plenty of useful info, and right at the top they say, "A LEGITIMATE LOAN PROVIDER WILL NEVER ASK FOR MONEY UPFRONT."

On the other hand, Care Finance and Loans clearly say on their site:

This company seems proper and legit, as it’s registered with the FCA. I went ahead and made the PPI payment, and in the end, I did receive the loan just as promised. They’re authorised and overseen by the Financial Conduct Authority. Their FCA reference number is 671064. Gosh, some of the positive reviews here only mention having to make one insurance payment! I was told to pay three separate times, almost adding up to £1000! Avoid this lot at all costs! They ask for upfront charges on a loan that isn’t real. First it’s some supposed insurance fee, then another sum claimed to be tax the FCA demands. The FCA has made it clear they don’t collect any tax, so don’t fall for their stories! Then they tried to get a third payment, saying their online banking can’t handle odd amounts, so they’re adding extra money as compensation - total rubbish! If you try to cancel, they’ll demand a £100 cancellation fee to release your funds immediately, or else you have to wait 45 days. not sure about most of the info they gave me, but the bank details were definitely real! im gonna report them to action fraud and halifax ASAP. if youve sent any cash already, ring the bank right now! these scammers have got to be put to a stop!

I just looked up this number because I kept getting calls from it, and it seems like the opinions are all over the place. But funny enough, the positive reviews kind of read the same, like they could be fake. I’m not picking up if they ring me again - smells like a scam to me! Check out some fraud alert sites for yourself. Legit loan firms don’t ask for cash upfront! Someone mentioned the FCA website, so I had a peek there too - turns out these guys aren’t registered or regulated at all!!!

First, I paid £120 for the loan insurance. After that, I got a call demanding an extra £200, promising the loan would arrive in my account in 15 minutes. But I never saw a penny! Definitely a scam!

Did you ever manage to get your money back? They initially wanted me to pay £75 which I did, but then they rang me up again asking for £150. I told them no way was I paying that. They kept saying they’re a proper company, even offered to send the loan agreement on official letterhead. They also said I could check with Halifax to confirm the account info was genuine.
