Got a call around 2.17 pm, started with some Chinese voice message, then switched to English warning my phone would stop working in 2 hours. They told me to press 1 for English or 2 for Chinese. When are these lot going to stop? My blocked numbers list could fill a whole book. Usually get one call a day from these so-called Chinese pals, which, considering how rarely they hit the mark, really makes you wonder how pricey phone scams are nowadays.

I got a call from some robot sounding thing claiming I was in hot water for not paying taxes or something. Felt like a total scam to me.

Honestly, I couldn’t catch anything she was saying, but it was clear she was trying to sell me something because she ended with “Would you be interested?” I just replied, “No, thank you,” and she insisted on knowing why. So I politely said, “I’m going to hang up now” and did just that. Later, I looked up the number to make sure I hadn’t accidentally cut off a legit company I actually pay for (!), and that led me straight here. It’s now blocked on my phone. Seems it’s a landline and has loads of scam reports - can’t BT do something about this?

It’s really unsettling that they have my full name, address and postcode. I told the woman I was putting her through to the police this time, and she just ended the call. Honestly, they need to take stronger action against these calls, especially since they target people who are more vulnerable.
