I got a call from a firm saying they had a free trial deal with a £50 voucher included for some cashback program.

They contacted me claiming that I'd made a purchase in the past with them, and were eager to present me with £100 worth of vouchers to use on different products. They mentioned the name they had on file for me and requested that I verify it. I wasn't keen on their offer, so I simply said no and ended the call.

They bombarded me with endless questions, even asking about my favourite colour. Apparently, they were keen to dish out vouchers for shopping and dining experiences. The conversation took a strange turn when they mentioned a free trial for something rather vague, after which I’d be charged £81 if I carried on. At that point, I knew it was best to hang up.

Didn’t pick up the call this time. From what others have said on this site, I reckon it was a firm called Easy Life (easylife.co.uk). I bought something from them about a decade ago. Have a look from the third comment down. Loads of people either don’t bother to scroll back or, if they do, they don’t bother to take action. That’s the reason scammers keep getting away with it and just laugh all the way to the bank, cos they know hardly anyone reports these dodgy calls to the fraud team. Once a scam hits, the crooks quickly switch to a different number but use the same trick.

Every scam try ought to be reported straight to the cyber crime unit that's been made to help regular folks easily report all dodgy calls, texts, emails, and other fraud stuff. I was told to do exactly this when I raised concerns with my MP about the loads of scam calls and messages I kept getting. You’ll find info on how to report down this thread. Scammers really don’t want this info getting around. If you don’t bother reporting scams, don’t expect them to stop anytime soon.

Some bloke rang me up saying because I bought face masks last year, they’re giving me a £50 thank you voucher and signing me up to a subscription deal costing £82 a year, where supposedly I’ll save loads in shops across the UK! I told him not to send any gifts and definitely not to sign me up for anything. Fingers crossed they listen. Avoid taking calls like this. The guy sounded friendly enough, but it’s clearly dodgy.
