I checked and this number isn't listed on the IFF Research website at all. No surprise really, they swap numbers around before people can mark them as spam. IFF Research probably does surveys for other companies, but the info they gather is likely packaged and sold on. It’s a huge industry now. Even if the original intent is harmless, once scammers get hold of that data (which they definitely do) it can lead to identity theft or hacked accounts. If they call you, just tell them to jog on, block the number, and report it. Better to be safe than sorry.

Loads of calls from this lot, they ring again and again, and when I block one number, they just switch to a bunch of others. Got about eight calls in under an hour, all different numbers, all acting like they’re from the police, government, or some fraud team. Honestly, don’t pick up if it’s these numbers!

Had a rather unwelcoming phone call from this number today. They were spouting off about conducting a government survey targeting businesses looking to turn a profit. When I pressed them for a clearer explanation of what they meant by that, I was met with a rather snappy response, accusing me of not being cooperative. Got a call around 10:30 from some bloke, I picked up and straight away asked, "Who is this and how did you get my number?" He said he needed to talk to someone called a bednhhgbjyu or summat. I asked again who he was, and he asked if I was a begyhdyfhh or something like that. I told him no, I wasn’t. Then he claimed to be from the iff, saying it was an official government line. I asked nicely what 'iff' stood for and he just hung up. Tried ringing back and it turns out it’s from iff research and they might ring again. I’ve blocked the number now.

When I looked into it online, all I found was a non-commercial placeholder page. I began to ask a few questions, but then she said I wasn’t eligible to take part in the survey. Today, I picked up the phone to a rather dubious call from 020 80495715 on my landline. The chap on the other end was supposedly representing the Ministry of Defence. He claimed they were reaching out to “randomly selected businesses” and, to my surprise, he mentioned my name. He was apparently keen to gather public opinions to better the relationship between civilians and the armed forces, with a survey that could take a whopping 20 minutes based on my replies. I must admit, I wasn’t keen on playing along; I told him as much, suggesting he could send me some details via email along with “verification” numbers for me to check. Truth be told, I didn’t have twenty minutes to spare nor did I see much value in input from someone I couldn’t verify. I frankly found it hard to believe my business would ever require help from the military. So, I cordially passed on the survey. In a somewhat odd turn of events, he ended our conversation by wishing me a Happy New Year, hoping it would be better than the last, and urging me and my family to remain safe. Quite the peculiar encounter, I’d say!
