Subsequently, they vanish, or worse, you might receive an O2 SIM alongside a completely useless knock-off phone delivered to your door. Be vigilant! They have a tactic where they’ll slide into your DMs on WhatsApp, urging you to return the package to an individual's address in Manchester or some obscure location, claiming they sent the wrong items by accident. Some bloke rang saying he was from a housing repairs claims team, so I just let him ramble on for about 20 minutes feeding him rubbish details. He got pretty annoyed by the end. Seeing other folks saying the same number’s used for loads of different things, I’m sure it’s a scam, likely trying to sneak out your personal info. If you actually need to make a repair claim, I’d honestly go through Citizens Advice first.

I received a rather intrusive phone call the other day from someone who could barely manage to pronounce his own name-“Brendan,” he claimed, while mumbling something about a so-called “house repairs” service. These pesky calls have been plaguing me for the past month and a half, always from a different dodgy number each time. I do my best to block them and report their shenanigans on platforms like this, but lo and behold, mere days later, they’re back with a new phoney number as if nothing's happened! When I expressed my frustration and requested, quite politely, to have my details removed from their list, the chap became downright unpleasant, adamantly claiming that his operation was above board and not at all a scam. I posed the question-would a genuine business really resort to cold calling, fabricating their own identity, and changing their caller ID every week? His reply was rather rich, suggesting that none of those factors constituted a scam; they were merely “trying to assist” people. I decided to keep him on the line to waste his time and hopefully stop him from conning someone more gullible. It was at this point that he unleashed a torrent of vitriol at me.

Received a phone call from someone claiming they were collaborating with maintenance firms to tackle issues with unscrupulous landlords. They mentioned a government-supported initiative aimed at upholding the Landlord Act of 1995. However, when I inquired further, they were quite evasive about who they represented, insisting that it would be free of charge for me. Sounded very much like a dodgy scam to me!

Received a call earlier from someone claiming to be from Marks and Spencer in Leeds, saying they needed to confirm my personal information because a parcel was on its way to me. When I sought clarification about her identity and the purpose of the call, she rather huffily queried why I kept making her repeat herself. That was my cue to hang up. To my surprise, she rang back, asking why I’d ended the conversation! I pointed out her discourteous manner and requested a contact number for Marks and Spencer to authenticate the call. She didn’t take kindly to that. I gave her a five-second countdown to provide the number, to which she responded by asking why I needed it. So, I hung up again. Definitely feeling it was a scam, along with some rather poor customer service; this was hardly a legitimate call!

She found it strange as she never entered any contest and said she didn’t have a bank account then just hung up. They kept ringing back 6 more times that day, still pushing for her bank info to claim the 'prize'. They even looked up local banks and tried to get her to say which one she uses! She's reported this to the Police since other older people might fall for their tricks.

I usually don’t pick up unknown numbers anymore, just let it ring through to voicemail. If it’s important, folks usually leave a message or find another way to get in touch. This number called me but there wasn’t any message left.

Got a call from someone asking to confirm my name and address, claiming I’ve got a package arriving in about 4 or 5 days. I just ended the call straight away.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with the Postcode Lottery, telling me I'd won a prize. They then asked me to give them my bank sort code and account number! Definitely sounded dodgy to me.

Had a call from someone called "Anthony" claiming I’d won some discount card for the Postcode Lottery, meant for use at restaurants. He was going on about how I’d enjoy eating and drinking out, but as soon as I told him I usually just eat and drink at home and don’t go out much, he suddenly went quiet. Ended up hanging up pretty quickly. Feels like a total scam to me.

Got a call from a woman with a strong Chinese accent asking for people who have sadly passed away. Told her there was no one by that name here, yet she kept shouting at me over the phone. Seriously, why bother calling if you’re just going to waste my time and yell?
