A shady online gang up to no good.

I received a pop-up claiming I’d won a holiday and a free ring. Unfortunately, I lost my connection, and when I attempted to call back, it ended up costing me £47 for the telephone call. Trust me, don’t bother ringing them back; it’s all a scam!

Greetings! My mother recently received a call from this number that appeared after a pop-up on her computer screen. She was on the line for roughly thirty minutes, only to find the call abruptly ended. Thankfully, she didn’t share any banking details, but she is rather anxious about how this might affect her phone bill, considering she lives on her own and is retired. Could anyone shed some light on this situation for us? Many thanks in advance!

I stumbled upon a website claiming that I’d won a holiday worth £3000, so I decided to give them a ring. I spoke to a bloke named Alan and asked outright, “Is this some sort of scam?” He assured me it wasn’t. We probed a bit further, inquiring about any phone charges, and he replied it was a complimentary call. He promised he’d give us a ring back with the details - but surprise, surprise, that never happened! Clearly, it was all a dodgy setup!

April 2012 - A pop-up popped up on YouTube claiming I’d won a £3000 holiday adventure. It instructed me to ring their London branch at 020 7979 7823, using my confirmation number JJ0JW5MW to redeem my supposed prize. Now, should I bite the bullet and call, or just type their details, including the phone number, into Google? I gave it a whirl and where did I land? Right here! Enjoy your non-existent getaway, I suppose. I’m even raising a finger to input some digit. Do these con artists truly believe we are all that naive? If it looks, quacks, and waddles like a duck, it’s a safe bet it’s not just a duck but the grandmaster of all scam ducks! Caution is advised, folks!

I received a phone call purporting to be from a company in the States, claiming I was their millionth customer and had won a holiday to Summer Bay Resorts in Orlando. At first, it sounded incredibly convincing, and I nearly fell for it. However, I soon realised it was a scam. So, do take care!

What’s the cost of your phone bill? Our mum has had the same experience. Cheers!

It's still happening with our little one-she's only eight, bless her heart. A woman spoke to her, albeit poorly spelt; my apologies for that. Fortunately, we managed to step in before things got any further. The lady then claimed she’d pass the matter on to someone else, but frankly, how do such individuals feel entitled to chat with a child who doesn't fully grasp the situation? It's quite disheartening. Our little one was so enthusiastic about meeting Mickey Mouse, and it's tough to see her so devastated now that we've had to inform her this won't be taking place.

I recently had a rather unexpected experience that took me by surprise. As a bit of a cynic, I never thought twice about it until I found myself in this situation. We decided to enter a phone number into our computer, and lo and behold, it directed us right here! So, to all of you out there, it's crucial to verify any phone number before you make that call. There are plenty of con artists lurking about, and it's truly appalling!

Oh, my experience was rather akin to yours! Just today, while browsing YouTube, I received a notification claiming I’d won a holiday. Naturally, I was intrigued and rang the number given. A woman by the name of Rita Martin was on the other end, prattling on about what a stroke of luck I had. She quizzed me endlessly about various details-my name, where I was from, my favourite holiday spots, and so forth. After about 13 minutes, a little voice in my head started to sound alarm bells. It felt more like she was stringing me along than anything else, so I decided to end the call myself. Thankfully, she hadn’t gotten to requesting any card details, and I didn’t share any sensitive information, yet I still can’t shake the concern about what my next phone bill might look like. I also rang the number 02079797823, which they claimed was the ‘London office’, from my landline. Does anyone know if there are any charges associated with that call? It’s simply mind-boggling that established platforms like YouTube would host such dodgy adverts. I’ve heard about this scam going on for quite some time, and here we are, on the 4th of January, 2013, and it’s still rearing its head!

Blimey, we nearly fell for it! There always seems to be cash involved, but to us, that's hardly a victory. It really gets our goat, especially now we've got another bill to contend with!

Hey Joe, is it true that you also use names like Jonathan White and Ryan Pembleton? We called the number and just as we did, it seemed to switch to someone else. The tone of the person on the other end went from all friendly to downright rude as soon as we declined. What’s the story there?

I got caught out by this! I just hope that the charge, which they claimed was a complimentary call, doesn't end up being hefty. Thankfully, we didn’t hand over any card information. Best to steer clear of this one!

What an absolute scam! Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this outfit, Summer Bay Resorts. Our first interaction was with one rather dubious character named Mr Ryan Pemberton, who, after a brief chat, shoved us onto another chap, Jonathan White. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were the same person under different guises! They had the audacity to claim we’d only be considered ‘winners’ if we forked out our cash that very evening. When we tried to ring them back a bit later on, we found the holiday price had skyrocketed to over £3,000! And let me tell you, Mr White's approach was nothing short of aggressive! It’s best to avoid them like the plague.

We called the number just like all the others here, and we went ahead and paid the fee. So far, we've enjoyed two out of the five holidays we've booked, and honestly, they've been fantastic. Initially, we were a bit sceptical, thinking it might be a scam, but we decided to take the plunge with our payment-and I'm so glad we did! We’ve still got three holidays left to enjoy, and I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement for what's to come!

I was browsing a news site when a message popped up claiming I had won a £30 Travel Shopping Spree. It instructed me to call a number, so I did and ended up chatting with someone named Jenna Pace. She wouldn’t stop going on about this holiday package I supposedly won, even after I told her I wasn’t interested and wanted to end the call. It became quite infuriating as she continued to ramble on. What kind of scam was she trying to pull, exactly?

We came across a pop-up message on our computer while browsing a news site, proclaiming that we had won a delightful £3000 Travel Shopping Spree. It encouraged us to call a certain number, so we did. On the other end was a representative named Jenna Pace, who was relentless in detailing the holiday package we’d supposedly won. Even after we stated clearly that we were not interested and wished to end the call, she continued to chatter away, leaving us quite exasperated until we finally hung up. What sort of trick was she attempting, I wonder?

This so-called natural health business claims to offer free face cream, needing only the postage covered. A year ago, I made the mistake of requesting one, only to find out they've nabbed three payments from my bank! When I called them, they deny any account exists in my name. It’s unequivocally a scam! I've tried contacting them multiple times with no resolution in sight. My strong recommendation is to steer well clear of this outfit!
