Honestly, the smartest move is to just drag out the call so they waste their own time (and hopefully leave someone else alone for a bit). I've had my number on the Do Not Call registry for like 10 years now, so technically they’re not allowed to ring me. He kept asking if I'd been in any recent accidents, whether I'd made a claim, and also for my car's registration number. I didn't feel comfortable and asked who he actually was since he wanted personal info. Then he was like, "What personal details are you talking about?" and I told him "the rego number of my car". If they sense you're not interested or hesitant, they'll just cut the call off without a word.

He told me his name was Lakson and even spelled it out, which was a bit suspicious. When I questioned where they’d found out about my accident, he mentioned it was from the “RTA - Road Traffic and Accident Department.” I asked him to explain more, and he babbled something about a government agency. But when I pressed, asking, “So, that’s an official government department?” he suddenly got dodgy. Of course, there’s no such department at all - seems like he was just trying to sound legit.
