Received a call earlier today, and yet again they were promoting white papers. It appears these folks are solely after our email address, quite insistent to say the least.

I got a call from this number and the person on the other end was asking for someone who hasn’t been with the company for a while. I then directed them to the Managing Director about this Development Software query. However, I made it clear that the MD wouldn’t be available to take the call, and just like that, the conversation was cut short and they hung up!

It appears that calls are being directed for sales inquiries and whitepaper discussions related to commission at a fairly minimal level. In our instance, it's regarding HP.

It appears that CLI is associated with CBS Interactive, as I've been receiving incessant calls today under names like HP and MessageLabs, among others. The earlier commenter hit the nail on the head; it seems these folks are likely engaged in some sort of email address collection scheme.

I've just hung up the phone. This number keeps calling us incessantly, and it's becoming quite bothersome. Whenever I try to explain that we’re not interested, they simply continue their pitch without missing a beat. If we terminate the call, they mysteriously don’t bother us again until the following day. Perhaps they’ll eventually abandon this nonsense once they realise they’re receiving no response at all. We don’t experience unsolicited calls at home since we’re registered with a preference service, but unfortunately, that doesn’t apply to my workplace. It’s rather unfortunate, really.

I've received several calls supposedly from firms like Messagelabs, all touting their white papers and whatnot. Quite curious, really!

It seems we’ve got another instance of Netapp here, this time venturing into the realm of cloud services... or is it something else entirely?
