Received a call purporting to be from Carphone Warehouse, but as I'm ex-directory, I'm suspicious it could be a scam.

Phone rang while we were out, no voicemail left, so i did a 1471. After looking through all the earlier comments from real worried folks, it's clear these are scammers. Looks like they’ve been fishing for bank details from loads of people. Glad we missed it. Cheers to everyone who shared their experiences.

They asked for me by name and said it was about my M&S bank, claiming it was a satisfaction survey. They said they got my info from M&S, which I plan to look into, but I’m not impressed since I’m on the TPS and my number’s ex-directory.

Got a call from 020 7890 9052 saying they were doing a customer survey for Barclays, said the name was CDC or CGC or something like that? I checked with Barclays myself and they told me its totally fake.

Had a call not long ago from a bloke with a bit of an accent, asking straight for me by name. When I said yes (I had reached out to a few agents earlier that day) and asked who he was, he just cut the call right away. Proper odd! Looked up the number online and didn’t think twice before blocking it!

He clearly knew my name but I couldnt figure out who he was representing. Then he just ended the call so I blocked the number.

I just got a call from this number on my mobile. I picked up and a bloke with an English accent asked if I had a bank account with TSB. When I told him I wasn't happy to talk about my banking details over the phone, he just hung up straight away. Definitely a scammer.

I got a call on Friday evening, but no message was left. The number is real - I have an old phone just for returning unknown calls. It sounds like a legit market research firm, but since I don’t take part in market or phone surveys, it’s pointless them ringing me.

I let this one go to voicemail, but there was no message left.

Proper dodgy call, had to ring the bank straightaway. Told the bloke to shove off, no way I’m falling for that!

They called me by name, claiming to be from Yorkshire Bank, mentioning they were conducting a survey. I foolishly went along with it for a moment, but then I had second thoughts and ended the call.

Got a call from 02078909052 today, 25th Jan 2019 at about 2:25pm. Found the number with 1471. No voicemail was left. We're on the TPS list and our number's ex-directory. They left a cold-caller automated message. This London number really shouldn’t be ringing a TPS registered phone. Don’t remember this number calling us before.

This bloke had my full name and even my bank's name, said he was calling from gdcc or something. When I told him I wasn’t up for answering any questions, he just hung up. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from this number, the bloke sounded English and said he was doing a survey for one of my banks. I told him if there was any problem I’d get in touch with the bank myself. He ended the call pretty sharpish after that.

I got a call from a really polite young bloke who began by saying he wasn’t trying to sell me anything, which made me a bit suspicious right from the start. He claimed he was carrying out a survey for my bank - he even mentioned the bank’s name correctly. I told him I don't do surveys and just hung up. And get this, he called my mobile!

Sounds like a total scam to me. The guy knew my full name and bank details and said it was a survey about how satisfied I am with my bank. I told him I didn’t want to share any personal info. He claimed he couldn’t give out those details. I just said I was happy with my bank and that I wasn’t interested in the survey, then hung up and blocked the number. Definitely not trustworthy, watch out everyone.

He claimed to be from GDCC seeking my thoughts on something. Wanted to chat with Mrs (my surname). I don't have a missus! I informed him that GDCC isn't a firm I'm familiar with nor have I ever done business with them. Then he just hung up.

Gentleman sounded polite and claimed he was calling from jfk doing some kind of Santander survey. He kept pushing to speak to my missus but when i asked why he got all nervous and started fumbling his words. I just told him to bugger off and hung up. Smells like he was fishing for bank info or something dodgy.

My landline’s meant to block any unknown calls, but this one got through. The number didn’t ring any bells, so I looked it up here. So glad I checked!

Some bloke rang saying he had questions about the pensions advice service and was from gdcc, representing jfk or something. I told him I was tied up and couldn’t chat, so he said he’d ring back tomorrow, insisting I was busy. Then he said he might have another go next week. Well, not now - I’ve blocked the number. Bit dodgy if you ask me, pretending to be from banks and now trying to get info on pensions.

They wanted to check if I was happy with their service and if I could do a quick survey, saying it was a secure line and asking for permission before continuing. They mentioned a website in case I had any issues, but I didn’t jot it down. I said no thanks, prob why it took so long for them to pick up. The guy said he'd call back. Just be careful, folks.

They asked for me by name and when I asked who was calling, he said something like GDCC / JFK or whatever. Then he went on like "so you’re Mrs. ####?" I said no, and he just said maybe he got the wrong number and hung up. I looked it up here and decided to block the number.

Got a call earlier about a Natwest bank survey. They didn't ask for any of my personal info, which I double checked with them, and they said they’re not allowed because of GDPR. The questions were mostly about how I use the branch, online services, and the app, with multiple choice answers about how happy I am with the bank’s service.

Got a call from someone who knew my full name, even my middle name, but they talked really fast and sounded a bit dodgy. They claimed to be doing a survey for First Direct and said they wouldn’t ask for any private info, then asked if I wanted to carry on. I said nah, I don’t think you’re legit! And that was it.

Got a call today around 4.40pm from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from GDCC, saying he was doing a survey for JFK about my HSBC relationship manager (never heard of this person, never met them). I told him I don’t talk about my finances over the phone and ended the call. Had a few of these kind of calls lately. Seems fishy to me!!!

I received a call earlier today from someone who had my complete name, mobile number, and oddly enough, knowledge of my bank details. It feels highly dubious, doesn't it? I’m inclined to think it’s some sort of phishing operation masquerading as a survey, aimed at tricking you into divulging more info via texts later on. To be safe, I reached out to my bank directly to mention the number, and they assured me that they never enlist third parties for surveys under any circumstances. Just a word of caution: don’t share any personal information. I toyed with the idea of leading them on and giving them a right load of nonsense but, unfortunately, didn't have the spare time to spare.

A bloke called saying he was ringing from GDCC for GSK and wanted me to verify my name (which I gave correctly). I didn’t confirm it back but asked what the call was regarding. He said he couldn't share any details because of data protection unless I confirmed my identity. I told him I wasn’t comfortable giving any info until I knew what this was about. Then he just cut off the call. Definitely feels a bit shady to me.

Received a call from these folks saying they were conducting some kind of research. When I queried how they obtained my number, they insisted it was just random dialing, yet they had the cheek to address me by both my first and middle names. Today I received a call from GFK, and they had the audacity to address me by my first name, expecting me to confirm it without question. Naturally, I inquired who was on the line, to which they simply stated "GFK." So, I pressed further, asking where they had sourced my number from. The response? A vague "I'm afraid I can't disclose where I got your number." At that point, I firmly said, "Well, in that case, I'm not engaging with you. Farewell!" and hung up. Honestly, it was quite satisfying! I implore you, don’t consider it impolite. In scenarios like this, a bit of brusqueness is warranted, especially against those unprincipled callers who try to charm you into a trap. Don’t hesitate! Be a bit curt, but save it for those who really deserve it.

This number just rang me on my mobile. I didn't pick up since I didn't recognise it. Odd thing is, as soon as they ended the call, I saw my remaining phone credit pop up. It didn’t actually deduct anything, but it’s weird how it shows your credit even if you don’t take the call. I received a call the other day from someone who addressed me by name, but I wasn’t about to play along. When I inquired about what they wanted, they initially insisted on speaking only to the person named. Then, they suddenly switched tactics, claiming it was all for market research. I recently received a call from them as well. As it happens, a pal of mine used to be involved in market research, so I decided to do a bit of digging on the GFK website. It turns out, the number is indeed legitimate. You can take a gander at this link: http://www.gfk.com/fileadmin/user_upload/country_one_pager/GB/documents/Quality-Compliance/2018/GfK_UK_Information_for_the_general_public_January_2018.pdf. Honestly, at some point, we must have ticked or perhaps not ticked a box somewhere along the line. This gives our bank or service provider the green light to have GFK reach out for surveys. I can only imagine how exasperating it must be for GFK employees to be mistaken for those bothersome cold callers, especially when they’re just trying to do their job!

He mentioned he was conducting a customer satisfaction survey regarding my bank. I informed him that I wasn’t in the mood to discuss my banking issues over the phone. He then inquired when might be a suitable time for him to call me back. I firmly stated that I had no intention of engaging in any conversation at any time and requested that he remove my details from his list.
