2 yearsThey rang once more but still didn’t leave a voicemail.2 yearsGot a call from a London number I didn’t recognise. Didn’t pick up and they didn’t leave a voicemail either.London3 yearsWATCH OUT, IT'S A SCAM! These calls come from a computer that automatically dials a series of numbers to figure out which are active phones. If you answer and say something like "Hello," your number gets flagged as active and handed over to scammers who might try to trick you. So next time your phone rings with an unfamiliar number, don’t say anything - just wait and hear if the caller speaks first. Then you can choose to answer or just hang up. ALWAYS BE CAUTIOUS AND ASSUME UNKNOWN CALLS COULD BE SCAMS!3 yearsI got a call from a bloke called James Caldwell who claimed to be with a recruitment agency offering a trainee accountant position. He went through what the job involved, asking me why I thought I’d be a good fit. During the chat, he said he’d looked over my CV and although I lacked some experience, first I’d need to complete a training course. He promised a permanent full-time role after that, with ACCA studies fully funded and a starting salary around £25,000 a year. Then he mentioned the training fee was £2,500 with a £900 deposit upfront. When I asked how I could be sure it wasn’t a scam, he insisted he didn’t handle the money directly, since he was just working for a recruitment firm, and pressured me to decide by the next day because they were hiring quickly. Afterwards, I got sent some paperwork that contradicted everything - it turned out he actually worked for a training company called Bradstone Allington, not a recruitment agency as he claimed. The documents revealed the ‘job’ after training was pointless; there was no guaranteed position, just vague employment support and a possible salary between £20,000 and £25,000. Nothing like what he painted during the call.James CaldwellBradstone Allington3 yearsThis was totally dodgy. They’d somehow got my CV and were pushing some online course, claiming you could work alongside a senior staff member. The guy kept asking if I was "really interested in this role", like trying to figure out if I was worth their effort or just wasting their time. Pretty sure it’s just a scam.3 yearsThose people were total scammers!3 yearsTOTAL SCAMMER ALERT3 yearsI just received a phone call about a paralegal job, which I can't recall ever applying for. Does anyone have any idea what their name was or which company or firm they were from?3 yearsGot a call from a company saying there's a job opportunity in their accounting team. They wanted me to pay £2000, with a 10% initial fee. They were pushing me to decide immediately because the interview was supposedly the next day and the application would close in about 20 minutes. Felt like a total scam to me.4 yearsGot a call from someone trying to make me PAY for an accountancy internship, ridiculous!4 yearsI got a call from them claiming I had sent in a job application, but I never actually did.Submit Your Own Report (020 7712 1695)
