Oh, here we go, yet another familiar tale echoing through the comments. These chaps keep ringing me up, insisting I need to “terminate a contract.” But when I got the documents they sent to 'cancel', it was clearly a contract - though the wording made it seem like it was penned by a child! Honestly, the arrogance of these folks is infuriating. I told them I was recording the call, and just like that, they hung up, never to return. Success! Don't let these deceitful characters pull the wool over your eyes!

Today, I received a rather unexpected call from this company. They claimed that I have an advertisement featured on a city map of Vienna and that it’s time for me to renew the agreement. I asked them if they could send me a trial copy of the city map. As they grew increasingly persistent, I decided to tell them to cancel the contract. To my surprise, the document I received for ‘terminating the agreement’ turned out to be an entirely new contract for advertising-complete with a staggering price tag. Quite dubious, if you ask me!

I received a call from the same individuals earlier today. I've reported them to trading standards as they've been up to this kind of behaviour in Suffolk.

The other day, we received a call from an unknown number, the caller speaking in Dutch and sharing a remarkably similar tale. He even sent us a fax listing the phone and fax number: 070 40 92 00. It was quite evidently a grand scam. We promptly alerted the authorities and lodged a complaint with [email protected].

I received a call from this company today, saying we needed to fill out a form to stop any advertising with them, even though I've never engaged in any advertising with them at all. After I faxed over the document, it became evident that it was actually a two-year commitment! They want me to pay £1,697 for each of the two ads per year. What a bunch of crooks!

I've recently started dispatching faxes to educational institutions across Northern Ireland, insisting that they send back a signed fax to terminate their advertisement from the City map in favour of the Town map.

We've had a similar experience ourselves. I've gone ahead and made reports to Consumer Direct and Trading Standards, eagerly awaiting their response to see what they suggest we do next. It might be a good idea to be a bit more cautious with our wording from now on!

I've received the same ring and the same paperwork.

I've had a similar experience. We returned the fax without any signatures, clearly marked it up with a note stating that I've never had any dealings with them, have no intention of advertising with them in the future, and requested they remove my number from their directory. They've tried to ring me once more, but I simply hung up on them this time.

It appears that these individuals have set their sights on Bradford now. Earlier today, on 16th July 2010, I received the same dodgy calls and a fax demanding I terminate a contract that, quite frankly, doesn’t exist! During the second call, she bluntly mentioned that if I didn’t sign and return their ridiculous termination fax, I could expect court proceedings to ensue. Well, I say, let them try! We've already notified Trading Standards, and the Bradford Chamber of Commerce was set to alert its members today to make sure they’re aware of this scam.

Just the other day, we received a call and promptly replied via email to let them know that I haven’t got any contract with them whatsoever. Following that, we were inundated with four phone calls which tied up our lines for about an hour as we found ourselves in a heated dispute, reiterating that we aren't agreeing to anything because I have never entered into a contract with them! This situation is absolutely unacceptable, and I'm determined to escalate this further. Their email contacts are: [email protected] and [email protected].

It seems these individuals are trying their luck in Powys and Suffolk seeking some info. Unfortunately for them, we’ve got background as former police officers and experience as a private investigator.

I've found myself in a similar predicament, where they assert that my name is included in their directory. To put an end to the advertisement, they want me to sign a document which they will supposedly send via fax. However, much to my surprise, that fax turned out to be a demand for £1,697! I can't be bothered to engage with them any further at this point; I'll simply hold off until they decide to give me another call. When they do, my plan is to ask for their address so that I can pay them a 'little visit' in person!

In Northern Ireland, schools are now mandated to send back a signed Fax in order to nullify an advertisement in the City Map, as per the stipulations of that very same guide.

I’ve received the same scam as well. It seems like these folks are merely sourcing their details from the web. I faxed back a message, leaving it unsigned, clearly stating that I didn’t want any further interaction with them. So far, no calls have come through again...

Yesterday, we received a rather suspicious call from someone using a number linked to a personal account that had the same background information-turns out, he was from the Netherlands. He even went so far as to send us a fax with the phone and fax number: 070 40 92 00. It was quite clear to us that this was nothing but a scam. We wasted no time and reported it to the police straight away, and also lodged a complaint with an EU consumer group at europe.com.

Heads up, everyone! The same old nonsense has made its way to LINZ, Austria, now available for the bargain price of €1,897. What a deal, right?

Just like many others here, I've had my fair share of these annoying calls. These folks seem convinced that I want to "terminate a contract" - though the document they send over resembles something a child might scrawl down. Utterly infuriating and incredibly pretentious on the other end of the line! We made it clear that our conversation was being recorded, and lo and behold, they hung up without a second thought. Can’t say I’m not relieved! Don’t let these fraudsters dupe you into their nonsense.

I've had a similar experience here in Switzerland, and it costs a staggering CHF 2,497! Just to clarify, I'm a community organisation! I haven't consented to anything. It's absolutely infuriating!

We've had a similar experience ourselves. We've reached out to Consumer Direct and Trading Standards and are currently eagerly awaiting their call regarding our course of action. It's probably wise to start being rather selective with our phrasing from this point onwards!

Oh, it's absolutely the same as the rest, isn't it? I've received two calls and a duplicate of my 'notice' to sign and return for cancellation. The caller referred to himself as Barrister whatever-his-name-is, just like those delightful emails I often receive from around the globe, beckoning me to partake in their rather dubious business ventures. Last year, I had a similar experience with someone claiming to be from Thomson Local, but of course, Thomsons were evidently compiling a file on them.

I received a call from a gentleman speaking with an Indian accent, claiming to represent City Map. He informed me that the complimentary listing for our business was coming to a close. Since we were totally oblivious to any such free listing, we asked him to verify the information. Unfortunately, he couldn’t provide any clarity and mentioned that we would need to sign a Terms Agreement.

Received an unsolicited call followed by a cheeky fax from a rather insistent individual who seemed to think I was born yesterday! I crafted a response that was subtly phrased, and so far, I haven’t heard a peep back. If that individual does decide to try again, I do pity the poor soul!
