First, I say something like, “Hello there, you’ve reached ‘pop your cork’,” then switch to a really serious tone telling them the message might be offensive and that calls are £4 per minute, with mobile calls a lot dearer. Or I’ll do a fast-talking American accent and say, “Hi, if you’re from the States, you qualify for a heated kidney-shaped pool, a microwave oven - but don’t watch your food cook! Plus, a Dyna-Gym - I’ll even show you how it works in your own living room.” That’s usually where I stop.

Got a call on my landline today around half one, from this number. A bloke with an Asian accent, said his name was Daniel and claimed he was with Todays Living. He tried to check my phone number, which was weird since he’d just rung me. Then he asked if I owned the house. I didn’t answer his questions and had to speak over him to say it was an unwanted call and I wasn’t interested, and also asked to be removed from their call list. He kept interrupting me rudely, so I just ended the call.
