They knew my name, address and phone number. Had an American accent. Wasn’t asking for anything really. Mentioned something about marketing then just ended the call. I didn’t respond at all.

No name mentioned. They called to verify that I was employed with a past company and to check if my phone number and address were current. Didn’t say why, then suddenly just ended the call. Bit odd, isn’t it? Wonder what their game is.

Got a call from a guy with an accent who wanted to chat about Diageo shares. He knew my full name, where I live, and obviously my phone number. The call was a bit confusing, and I couldn’t quite figure out what he was aiming for before he just ended the call when I said something small!

Got a call from someone with a strong accent, asking for a person whose name hasn’t been in the family for ages. I told them no-one here matches that name, and they said sorry before ending the call. Still, makes me wonder how they even got hold of the name in the first place.

Total scam. They rang asking questions about my husband's stocks. Creepy how they already have our number, names, and the company he's invested in. Never give them any info, just hang up straight away.

Received an unsolicited call today, 22nd January 2018, from someone who seemed to know a bit about me. The chap had a rather thick accent, possibly Indian or Pakistani, and I struggled to catch what he was on about. I asked him to hang tight while I connected him to the local constabulary, and wouldn't you know it, he abruptly hung up! Quite amusing, really!

Asked when their head analyst might ring me regarding my BP shares. Their English was really bad. I usually try to keep these kinds of callers chatting for ages to waste their time and hopefully stop them from conning someone who’s more vulnerable.

Some bloke with a heavy Pakistani or Indian accent rang about my wife's shares and wanted to speak to her. I said no and told him to speak to me instead. Suddenly he went all confused, like I’d just asked him to prove quantum physics wrong or something - you’d think the poor sod’s head was about to explode. He just started babbling nonsense and stammering like mad, still at it when I ended the call. These muppets just stick to their script like glue. Throw them off it and they’re completely lost!!

Some bloke named Mario rang from abroad asking for my boss who’s been dead for a year and a half. I asked for a number to call him back, but he just went silent, so I ended the call. Just got a ring from a bloke overseas on this number, talking about some analyst wanting to reach me regarding important info about shares I supposedly own. He asked when the analyst could phone me. I told him I don’t want any calls and that they should send me a letter instead (didn't give any address or anything). He wasn’t too happy with what I said! The line was really crackly. Pretty obvious scam and nice to see others had the same thing happen.

A chap named 'Mario' from GL Solutions rang one of my family members, saying he wanted to discuss some shares they possess in a specific company. My family member does indeed have shares, and since shareholder information is public, I get how that could be accessed. However, the fact they want to swing by and meet in person raised a few red flags for me. I sensed something fishy, so I've made a report to the authorities and the FCA. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if 'Mario' isn't even his real identity.

I received an unsolicited call from someone with an Indian accent, who addressed me by my name. He seemed to possess some general information about my investments in a certain company, though he lacked specifics. The caller claimed he was trying to set up a telephone meeting with his Chief Shares Analyst, who supposedly had vital information regarding an upcoming update that I simply had to know about. When I probed him about his identity, he mentioned 'GLC Solutions'. Curious about their connection to the firm I'm invested in, I pressed for clarification, but he hung up quite suddenly.

I had pretty much the same call as someone else mentioned here. A guy with an Indian accent rang out of the blue and asked for me by name. He seemed to know I owned shares in a certain firm, but didn’t really have much info. He said he was trying to set up a phone meeting with his Chief Shares Analyst who had some important news about an update I should know about. When I asked who he was with, he said ‘GLC Solutions’. Then, when I asked how they were connected to my company, he just hung up on me right away.

Had a very similar call myself. A bloke called ‘Mario’ (spoke with an Indian accent) rang up saying he was calling about my Sky shares. He said some administrator had an important message for me and wanted to get in touch. He asked if I preferred a call in the day or evening. He even knew my address, which seemed like he got it from the share records. When I tried to get more info, Mario dodged the questions and refused to give any other specifics.

Got a call from someone called "Mario", who said they worked for a company I own shares in, which just made headlines today. He was asking if it would be easier for their Chief Analyst to call me in the morning or the afternoon, saying there was an important announcement. I didn’t respond and asked for his last name, then he just hung up. Definitely looks like a timewasting scammer, and not very good at pretending either. Probably got hold of the share register and is just fishing for targets.

On the 29th of July 2016, right around 11 in the morning, my phone rang with an unknown number, and it turned out to be someone inquiring about my investments. Strangely, the caller appeared to have access to my name and address, which was rather unsettling. It felt like a marketing ploy that I didn't ask for and certainly disrupted my peaceful morning routine.

Got a call earlier today from someone with an Asian accent. They said their lead analyst wanted to have a word about my Morrisons shares. I only own a few, so it seemed pretty fishy to me. When I asked the company name, he said GL Solutions. Couldn't find anything about them online. I told him to remove me from their list, but he just hung up on me before I could finish.

Had pretty much the same thing happen to me. The caller was asking when it would be alright for an analyst to ring me about some shares I supposedly own. (I guess they could just look that up on the company’s share list.) I told them to get in touch by letter instead and then ended the call.

Received a call claiming I held shares in a bank, which is completely false as I don’t invest at all. It appears they’ve got their facts all wrong. The number in question is a VOIP line charging £5.00 a month, so I’d say it’s clearly a scam. Beware!

He asked when would be a good time for them to ring back. I told him, "Why don’t you give me the analyst's direct number and i’ll call when i’m free?" Unsurprisingly, he couldn’t do that.
