Definitely not a London number, more likely coming from somewhere close to Laos than the UK. These calls are definitely scams and they manage to trick a lot of vulnerable people. They really should get reported to the police. The police only start taking it seriously once they get tonnes of complaints. Just search for 'action fraud', go to the 'police.uk' website, tap on the 'report' button and flag it as phishing. You don’t need to sign up or give any personal details. If you did get caught out, report yourself as a 'victim'.

Some time back, I got a call from a company named "UK Technical Support" claiming I’d forked out £299 and that unless I agreed to a refund of £99, they’d charge me another £299. I told them I’d never dealt with "UK Technical Support" before and that I’d check my bank records to be sure. The guy, who sounded Indian, warned me that if I ended the call, the £299 would be taken right away. I just told him to jog on and ended the call. Total con job!!
