Definitely a con. They rang me twice on different days. The first time, I told them I no longer use BT and ended the call straight away. The next day I missed the call but looked up the number with 1471 and phoned back. I said "you called?" and the person on the other end hesitated before starting a spiel about BT and broadband. Got a call from someone claiming they were from Openreach, saying my internet had a problem. They asked me to grab my computer so they could guide me through fixing it. I got a call from a bloke claiming there was an issue with my internet because of some dodgy downloads they spotted. I clocked straight away that it was a scam, but he kept insisting I just check my router and say how many lights were showing. A mate of mine actually got caught out by this not long ago, so I was careful not to get drawn in. Luckily, she noticed weird stuff happening on her iPad and managed to freeze all activity just in time. Even still, the scammers had got as far as ordering her a new bank card before she stopped it.

Got a typical scam call saying there was some sort of odd activity on my internet. Just hung up and blocked the number since most phones let you. Definitely don't bother with it!

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were with BT and had to do some remote checks on my internet. The moment I asked for proof or questioned who they were, they just cut the call right away.

Got a phone ring from 02070974865 at quarter to 8 this mornin'. The bloke said he was from BT and about my broadband. I told him I’m not a BT customer and then he just ended the call straight away. Total scam obviously! Best thing is just don’t pick up or put the phone down if they do ring.

Got a call at my office from this number, the bloke said he was calling from BT about an issue with our broadband. I told him he’d have to talk to our IT team instead. He then started making snide comments about our IT folks before he just hung up on me.

This morning around 11:48, I got a call from a guy with an Indian or Pakistani accent saying he was from BT. He claimed there were issues with my internet connection speed. When I tried to ask him who my provider actually is, he dodged the question badly and mentioned some sort of security key number, probably trying to freak me out. Normally, I might mess about and waste their time, but I wasn’t in the mood today, so I just told him to get lost and ended the call. I can easily see how older or less savvy folks might fall for this sort of trick, so I thought I’d share my experience here.

This morning, I received a call from a gentleman with a noticeable Asian accent who mentioned some issues with my internet connection. He said he'd transfer me to his supervisor. When I was connected, a woman, again with an Asian accent, introduced herself as "Stephanie" and assured me she would assist. Initially, she instructed me to press the key that has the Windows logo along with the "R" key. I pretended to be a bit puzzled, asking her to clarify several times, which allowed me to keep her on the phone for nearly half an hour before she abruptly ended the call. Quite discourteous, I must say!

On 28th October 2021 around 3.23pm, I got a ring from someone pretending to be BT, saying there was an issue with my internet security. I get loads of calls like this and can usually tell they're dodgy straight away! Tried to play along for a bit and he just ended the call. Honestly, any unexpected calls like this, just assume they’re scams. Stay sharp, folks!
