Honestly, it’s utter rubbish. But luckily, I don’t think anyone would be daft enough to believe it these days.

One more number connected to this scam is 0203 575 1322. Got the same voicemail. Definitely ring the police and make sure you report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040. Stay alert!

Today I got a call and they left this automated message claiming to be from the inland revenue, saying I needed to ring back about something urgent. They never said my name or gave any personal info tho.

This morning, I encountered a rather alarming phone call (11th February 2019). An automated voice was on the line, purporting to be from the HMRC fraud division, alleging that there’s an open court case against me for tax evasion and urging me to return the call immediately. Upon ringing the number back, I spoke to a real individual, which did raise a few red flags for me, particularly as their grasp of English appeared questionable. Additionally, the tax code they quoted bore no resemblance to the one I had received through the post from HMRC. The caller pressed me to reveal whether I wished to contest the charges in court or if I preferred to pursue legal action against HMRC, which would inevitably mean I'd require a solicitor for the proceedings. Thankfully, I managed to keep my personal information private throughout the conversation.

Got a ring from this number earlier on, and honestly, they said the same stuff as the person above. Feels like a total scam to me.

I've just received a rather puzzling call from the number listed above. They didn’t provide any sort of reference and seemed utterly clueless about my name or address. When I inquired whether they recorded their conversations, they replied 'sometimes' with a thick accent that made it quite challenging to understand them - not that I'm being derogatory about language barriers, mind you. The line then went dead on me! When I tried calling back, I ended up with another individual who also struggled with English. He claimed I had chatted with a 'friend' of theirs, though he had no more information to share, and promptly terminated the call. Quite the odd experience!

I got a weird call from some computer voice claiming to be Jennifer Brown. They said something about “Inland Revenue” and that they’d be passing info to the real tax folks now. Totally sounded like a scam to me.

I received a call from this number earlier today, but I chose not to pick up. Instead, I decided to do a bit of sleuthing on Google. Common sense tells me that if HMRC needed to reach out, they’d do it via post rather than over the phone. So, I rang HMRC myself, and all I got was a rather unhelpful "it’s not us" response. Not exactly what you'd call comforting! I passed on the number 0207 097 1761 to them, and they said they'd look into it, but frankly, that hasn’t really eased my concerns at all.

A lady rang up claiming to be from the Inland Revenue and urged me to call back straight away. Honestly, if they’d just done a quick Google search on UK tax, they’d know we never call them, lol. Plus, why bother making me return the call? It wasn’t even a voicemail - pretty obvious it was a scam!

just got a call from this number. they had some of my personal info and i ended up talking to a couple of blokes whose English wasnt great. they told me i owed £3900 and said i need to pay it online immediately. honestly, dont fall for it, you can tell its a scam from a mile away. hope others are wise enough to spot it too, cause they’re not exactly clever.

I got a rather peculiar call from this number today. An automated voice, quite distinctly American, claimed to be from the Inland Revenue. It urged me to ring back or get in touch with a solicitor, then it made a rather alarming threat. This isn't at all typical behaviour for the Inland Revenue, if you ask me!
