I had a similar experience, asked them for a UK number and they gave me 02070971494. When I started questioning them, they just hung up. The story was all about a £300 refund. Weirdly, all they knew about me was my name and postcode.

I got a call saying there was an attempt to move £4000 out of my account. They reckoned someone at our local bank branch was behind it, and then they asked me to send money to a different account to help trap the "thief" - which I'm pretty sure was just them trying to scam me.

Scam alert: got a call saying there was a suspicious purchase made with my Visa debit from China. They told me I could stop the transaction if I rang this number, but I reckon they just wanted to get my bank info. Definitely dodgy.

Got a call earlier claiming to be from NatWest visa fraud team saying £300 had been sent to someone in China and they wanted to put the money back into my account. The missus didn’t quite get it at first and handed me the phone. I’ve gotta say, the scammer was pretty convincing, I almost fell for it! But luckily I could spot the nonsense straight away. I’ve reported it to my bank’s fraud department, so all sorted now. The number was 02070971494 - don’t bother calling it back. Just watch out for this kind of trick.

On the 23rd of July 2020, an elderly and vulnerable gentleman was cold-called and talked into handing over £6200 for a car he neither wanted nor needed. Luckily, the bank staff spotted it was a dodgy deal and stopped the transfer just in time. Total scam and fraud.

My sister just got a call from this number, and someone pretending to be from the bank asked her to send £20,000 from her NatWest account to HSBC. She’s quite elderly and vulnerable, so she ended up doing it. Please, whatever you do, don’t answer calls from this number!!

Got a call from a bloke with a thick accent saying £300 was withdrawn from my account. He gave me the number listed here. When I rang back, someone picked up claiming to be from Santander’s Fraud Team. They’re definitely not Santander! When they asked me to look up stuff on Google, I stopped - it’s a trick to get your device’s IP address. They couldn’t verify any transactions either. After checking with Santander directly, it turns out it’s a total scam. Be careful and hang up quick if they ask about a £300 charge.

Got a call earlier from someone who said his name was David and claimed there was fraud on my account. I quickly rang my bank myself and, while I was still speaking to them, he gave me another ring. The bank was able to listen in and told me straight away it was a scammer trying to get my banking info.

I got a call from a bloke with a thick accent who told me there was suspicious stuff going on with my hsbc account. He kept saying i had to ring this number to report the fraud. Even after i told him i never did the transaction, he said he couldn't stop it himself and kept pushing me to call that number. Of course, i didn't bother ringing them.

Be careful, this was a scam call pretending to be from Lloyds fraud department. They first try to make you trust them by saying they stopped a withdrawal from your account. Then they ring again claiming someone inside the bank is doing something dodgy and ask you to transfer money to help catch them. The truth is, it’s just your money they’re after and you won’t get a penny back.
